Yeeeah, my first like of the day. I know what you mean, it feels like people are just constantly slapping us down, whether they mean to or not, that's how it feels and it gets a bit disheartening after a while... and then there are those that insinuate that we must be mentally ill, like, thanks guys that's...that's really kind of you...

"Varric shouldn't be a romance because Bianca"

"Varric cannot be a romance because he's my bro"

"Making Varric a romance destroys his character"

"Dwarves are gross and fat"

The list goes on.

I think we've heard every comment in existence already. Is it too much to ask for some positive posts for once?

I have grown very uncomfortable with visiting this thread as it's already a big enough struggle not knowing what his LI status really is.

Plus, mental illness comments are incredibly insensitive as there are high functioning mentally ill persons in this thread.

You know, it would be so great if you went in blind and thought Varric flirts wouldn't amount to anything again. So you tell him he's handsome and tease him but as expected he kindly brushes you off or changes the subject. You shrug and go; "oh well , guess it's like DA2 again". But then after some time, he's having another conversation with your Inquisitor. You're just sitting next to him in camp talking about something  and in mid-sentence this happens

From what I understand, this complaint was originally a semi-legitimate one that ended up taken out of context. Like... From what I understood, some people saw the proportions of the dwarf next to their LI and purposefully went in and made their PCs look as creepy young as possible and were posting videos of it. Then the devs saw and were creeped out, commented on it, and next thing you know "romancing a dwarf is creepy because it's like romancing a child." 

 

So... yeah. Originally a valid complaint, but now, most people that say that are just being ridiculous. It's only creepy when weirdos make it creepy.

I was actually part of that 7%, which im fairly proud of.

My dwarven casteless rogue was my first playthrough. Still my favorite origin.

 

It's funny because people who haven't played the dwarf origin often get a good impression of Bhelen because he's a reformist. And those who know him from the origin hate his guts xD

While he has little sense of morals, I still prefer Bhelen to Harrowmont because while he may take away rights from the Dwarven nobles in the Assembly he does give more rights to the casteless and I'd rather support those who've been traditionally badly treated and oppressed.

hah hah. That's exactly the heights of my boyfriend and I. Gotta say, the height difference can be annoying, though.

I second this, this place used to be so laid back, then people had to start coming in and tell us why Varric wouldn't be an LI. I'm sick of all the Debbie downers

Also, did anyone else get choked up a little when Gorim comes to see you in the cell and you've had a mini romance with him ? It always makes me sad.

Yeah, or you could always play a strongly "family first" type noble dwarf who is mad at Bhelen for turning on his family, but still doesn't want to stoop to his level and wants to see an Aeducan on the throne, even if it is Bhelen.

Definitely my favorite of the origin story companions, he was just so damn cool, and handsome.
