Sometimes people are lucky enough to be in love with and be loved by their best friend. So if someone thinks it's weird to want to be involved with Varric, maybe this perspective will shed some light on the situation?

Varric generally has an overall strong fanbase over on Tumblr or even FB, with the exception of anon "dragon age confessions" which are anti-Varricmance or even hateful towards Varric and dwarves in general. >_<

Exactly! And if you value the friendship so much, then don't romance him? When people say stuff like that, they're just raining on others parade. And they are being assholes about it, because for many people their partner is their best friend. That's what happens when you love someone and spend a lot of time together.

You know, I was accused of brozoning a colleague. In reality, I already had a boyfriend at the time, why was that so hard for him to grasp...

 

None of my relationships ever worked out anyway and the one guy who used to be by my side at all times online (he's in the US and I am in Malaysia) seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. :/

Also as many people pointed out already, Varric isn't the Inquisitor's "best buddy" yet. And your relationship with him this time around is not going to be exactly the same either! I've seen comments like this "But he wasn't attracted to Hawke for 10 years!" quite a lot. Hawke being just friends with him for so long is used as a reason for not making him romancable. And I'm thinking "Yes...that was Hawke, this isn't Hawke" I  feel like there's a lot of displacement going on with these arguments.

If you guys are worried that there is a lack of Varric romance fans, don't be. Very few fans dislike Varric and I know that tons of people are hoping for a chance with him. I think they're just waiting to be pleasantly surprised but believe me, there will be an explosion if he's announced as a LI!

Ahh! I'm sad I missed this. I myself am also in love with my best friend. We met in college and I instantly liked him and told him, but he wasn't into me like that. He was still super nice and we hung out all the time and then 2 years later he asked me out. In September, we will be together for 4 years

One of my best friends is like that. It never works out for her and it's so awfully sad! I can't even count all the times I've seen her heart get broken... Just recently she got dumped by a guy who played her for over a year. And he dumped her through Facebook...  When she showed me what he wrote, well let's just say he's lucky he wasn't there... But as I keep telling her, sooner or later it will work out!

This is very true. Although with Garrus (and Varric) I knew I instantly wanted to play through a romance story arc with them. lol what can I say, I know what I like when I like it. Hee hee.

Same here. With Garrus, they really used the power of save file transfer to the max. It was so powerful to experience how their relationship grew from friendship to lovers to just such a badass battle couple. When he finally admits to loving her, I broke. I don't like to complain about the ME3 romances (obviously I agree with all complaints, they screwed up big time), because I was so happy with Garrus. I don't need anyone else, quality over quantity!
