I believe so, we have a chart going around based on actual sources that says they will have a kind of "bitter" relationship going on. I think it will be something like "I can stand you, I respect you, but I don't like you". Maybe it will get better as time goes on.

 

The chart was actually what I was asking about--I just didn't want to quote it and repeat the image a third time on the same page.

 

But yeah, there are lots of ways that could manifest.  I was looking forward to seeing what their relationship looked like after their rather unfortunate first impressions of each other, so I kind of hope it's more complex than "I hate you for reasons."

I crush on Sera, so I would be all for Varric and her getting along wonderfully. Especially since they will both be on my team a great amount, most likely. xD I could see a mischievous kinda partnership between them. They both enjoy a good laugh. 

 

I hope so too. Besides Varric I see Sera spending a lot of time in my party. I'm hoping she turns out to be the type of female companion I've always wanted but never got. The silly female best friend.  We've not had that type of friendship yet. If anyone has watched Bridesmaids I'm talking about the type of friendship between Annie and Lillian

 

 

 

A big reason I love this movie is because they act like goofy idiots together and it's realistic! I do stupid, silly things with my female friends all the time yet I never see that type of friendship in bioware games (or anywhere really).

It looks like this time around Varric isn't going to be the guy who gets along with everyone. We've already got confirmation that he has issues with Iron Bull and now it looks like he'll have a rather strained relationship with Cassandra.

I can see that. He did have a few words to say about Anders when Cass asked who was to blame.  He may find the idea uncomfortable at first, but knowing Varric if he hasn't changed he'll probably warm up to Cole as he gets to know him better.

I'm thinking he will be iffy about Cole. I remember he was already kinda iffy about Anders (it's clearer when you romance him and he shows concern for you) before he even pulled the... thingy he did at the ending. So now that that's happened, I won't be surprised if he's even more distrustful of spirits. Whether he will still have the "Eh, I dunno but I'll go with it" attitude he did in DA2, or become more adamant about his feelings on the matter this time around because of it, I'm curious about.

Am I the only one that is going to miss Merrill? I know that she could be annoying at times, but I really enjoyed the dynamic between her and Varric, especially when he would call her "Daisy." I thought that was cute

 

Kind of off topic, but I have literally no idea where Merrill might have gone off to. Her clan is gone, her friends like Varric are off somewhere else, Kirkwall isn't really a place to stay anymore.

My Hawke rivaled her and at the end of the game it sounded to me like Merrill wanted to help the elves in the city.

 

I have a headcanon that Merrill is off in another large city somewhere working for city elf rights.

I just don't like beards. :/ They cover up pretty faces. I like faces, lemme see them! Less hair, more face. (Although, I don't mind scruff. It's masculine but not...overwhelming) xP

Nah, I found it racist too (and lots of others did as well), but that topic isn't a fun one so yeah.

 

Her skin tone is so beautiful, I don't know why anyone would want to change it. I found her look extremely sexy/attractive and wouldn't want her any other way. My femhawke who romanced her wouldn't, either. :3

I think it's the fact that you basically don't see mods that change companions to have darker skin. Just white Isabela.

Same, even though I romanced Anders more because I love chaos and destruction muahaha Isabela is just... umph. Of course her looks are great, but I just get weak knees at the free spirit personality, which is why I know I'll probably feel the same way about Sera. On the other hand, most of my DA2 artwork was of Isabela (including my current icon) because I just found her so visually appealing I wanted to draw her more. and more. 

If Varric was an LI back then though, I dunno how much of a chance anyone else would have had. xD
