Don't get me wrong! I don't wish it or anything . I wanted the Cullenites to have a bi Cullen, even.

But, if Cullen holds the same Mage issue he did in 2 and Origins, I wouldn't be surprised if he was class gated



On a Varric related note, currently playing da2 reminds me of how perfect he is

Call me evil but it would be kind of funny if Cullen ended up race/class gated instead of Varric.

If Varric is announced as the bi, no race gated romance I would be in shock for who knows how long

If you read Cullen's blurb, they talk about the fact he's seen the worst of both worlds, so he has really changed.  I'm not a big Cullen fan, but I'm willing to give him a shot as a character at least.   Plus, I really don't think BioWare would be crazy enough to add class gating on top of set sexuality and race gating.

I'd just laugh and dance merrily through the forums.  It would take every nerve in my body not to shout, "I TOLD YOU SO!"  Even if he is straight and race-gated, I'm still probably going to shout, "I TOLD YOU SO!"

Not thrilled with it either, even had some serious rants about it as well.  I'm calmer now, but it did take me a few weeks to mellow out after they dropped that little bomb on us.

He isn't even 5th on my list of romances I'd like, but I don't mind getting to know him first.

And of course some people were still completely surprised, like it was some retcon or something. I think they expected he should have greeted the warden with "Hi, I'm Anders -- I like men and women. Oh, and I didn't kill those Templars." xD

 

Goes to show this stuff can always happen in ways people least expect it. We tend to make decisions about stuff that's never fully implied... whether it be a guy we just met never fully explaining his sexual preferences to us (how dare he!) Or a comment made by a very witty and sarcastic (albeit lovable) Dwarf.

 

But yeah... if it came down to Varric and Vivienne... I'm sorry Viv fans. >.> I'm voting Varric. Not that my vote counts towards anything.

I think that Vivienne probably won't be romanceable. She seems so devoted and driven to her ideals that I figure she'll fall into the "ain't got time for your business” category Laidlaw mentioned. lol ..

 

As for the males, I don't think it would be Solas either....I saw a tweet from one of the devs to a Solas fan and unless he was trolling it doesn't look good. I think it went something like, "Uh-oh, are we gonna have to deal with unrequainted love for Solas like we did with Mordin?” (like I said if he was trolling or something someone let me know.)

 

So, it doesn't look good for him. I'm putting my money on Varric/straight/racegated, Iron Bull Bi/racegated and...poossssiibbbllly, maaaaayyybbbee, Blackwall??? Hmmm, actually I think Vivienne has a better chance than him....

So, I think I'm going with Varric, Iron Bull, and Vivienne being in the remaining LI slots.

I'm totally cool with him being Bi, he can be flirted with by a male and a female Hawke after all. Varric being bi just means more people can sample his fine dwarven crafts.

I have had a few folks get upset, because I was "lying" to them.  Right, because I always say, "I like boobies and penises equally" the first time I meet someone, as I'm sure that straight people have to clarify that they only prefer the opposite sex do all the time. /sarcasm

I've just been going over in my head thinking about the potential companions that are LIs, and frankly they don't seem to fit except Varric.

 

Blackwall--Like I mentioned, I think it'll be a flirt and he'll turn you down.  He's nearing his Calling, and already strikes me as the type of guy that would rather die than hurt one of his dear friends.

 

Vivienne--This one is rather tricky.  I personally think she "ain't got time for that," due to her drive and determination to get ahead.  So I don't think she'll be available as a result.  Some have said it would be racist to make the first black female companion in DA a LI, others have said that it would be racist not to.  I think the DA team is in a catch .22 here.

 

Solas and Iron Bull (gated) I think are going to be our bisexual men.
