They should know what they're getting into if they go into a character appreciation thread and start being jerks. (this wasn't normal criticism, this person was being hostile with their remarks). It still amuses me that they act all surprised when their assholery isn't welcomed with open arms.

LOL what a dick.  You know, I didn't find Solas attractive at all at first look, but after his reveal his character sounded so damn awesome that he became incredibly sexy to me, then someone also pointed out stubble...that was a bonus.

Same here almost exactly! When it was just his concept art I wasn't *that* interested... but by now I'm on the Solas train. I can't wait to see him. (and an elf with stubble?!?! what would our elf-purist friend have to say about that one? bahaha) I won't complain, I find stubble incredibly attractive.

Yes. It was much earlier on, when they said something to the effect of "and you people wonder why we call you BioDrones?"

 

My mental reply was "really? I've never wondered that. Wtf does that mean, even?"

I've seen it used before by Witcher trolls. It's a stupid name, and hardly fitting if you've ever seen what the Bioware fanbase is like.

I've just gotta say this. Even though we only know so much about Sera, what we have learned of her seems to indicate that she really isn't concerned with how she looks to other people and she doesn't care about appealing to their narrow standards of physical attractiveness.

 

And I love that so much.

 

Because so many people have to deal with being told that they aren't attractive or they should change 'x' about how they look to appear appealing to some different beauty standard. And no one should have to do that. Nobody should have to feel that they should change or that they aren't fantastic exactly as they are.

 

And I really like to think Sera's 'no ****'s given' way of cutting her hair and patching together her clothes is such a perfect way to just give a middle finger to appearence naysayers. Cause she's fantastic and nobody can tell her different and I think everybody needs a character like that to admire. (And it especially makes me smile to have a female character like this.)

 

I bet anything that Sera'd clock anybody who said anything crappy to us about how we look and then high five us for being freaking amazing.

I can't wait for Bioware to release a litho of the whole team, they are by far the coolest looking group of companions we've had.

I totally agree! Every new image of the characters make me so excited. Everyone stands out, and always in a good way. They really outdid themselves this time!

*applauds* That was awesome! You have a good way with words! This is also why I admire Sera. 

 

If someone started calling Varric an elf (lol, yeah right) I would feel the same way. People trying to erase a characters identity because of how big their nose is or the shape of their face is not only weird but ridiculous. It's annoying. 

 

And yes, all of the new character designs look perfect. There's more variation this time around than ever! From an (even bigger!) Qunari than usual, to a sickly looking (yet adorable seeming) mysterious young man, to our beloved handsome dwarf, to a bald elf... we aren't lacking on individuality this time around. I loved Origins, but you can really tell they've come a long way with how they can individualize characters since then.

Precisely, because, you know, Bioware fans AlWAYS get along and there are absolutely no polarising arguments about elves, mages, Anders, DA2, ME3 or anything like that

I'm choosing to think that the person in wuestion had a bad day, maybe they woke up in the morning wearing some pointy-eared blinkers

I love the BW community for the most part, so many incredibly creative, skilled, empathetic people and it was lovely seeing so many there to support the Sera fans.

That person was totally wrong with the "Biodrones" comment, it made me chuckle. Sure, we're a community built up with some of the most hardcore fans so we do tend  to be protective, but you don't need to stay here for long to see the criticism is still very much alive and people aren't afraid to speak their minds.
