To me, it's his kindness. I was taken by surprise while playing DA2 to just how thoughtful Varric was. Always looking out for those he cared about without being overly fussy. Yeah, he's funny and charming, clever and good looking but it was his unexpected kind nature that got me :3

Here's a question for all of you: what, in your opinion, is Varric's most attractive feature? It can be anything from looks to personality.

How carefully picked his words are. He never seems to say anything that isn't intended or meant - he has complete control over his speech which only breaks down sometimes.
Though yeah, the kindness was awesome too. I really remember how much of an almost motherly figure he was to Merrill, and just how supportive of the whole party. Twas pretty cool.

The fact that, despite his obvious talent and wealth, he was always willing to throw his life on the line for Hawke and everyone else in the group. He could have just as easily been like all the other silver-tongued merchant princes of the world, sat back and managed his network with conceit and ruthlessness. But he was always willing to be there for Hawke. A consummate bro.

Yeah, Varric really is the lovable rogue with the heart of gold, though he tends to hide it.
I don't know what his most attractive feature for me would be: his voice, his kindness, his personality in general, there is too much I like about him to choose just one.

I found his personality the most attractive as well. I'm generally attracted to morally grey people who mix in loyalty, and that definition fits Varric, I feel. He's loves his friends, but he will kill bandits and steal stuff from the Viscount's keep no problem! I would say he's true neutral (maybe chaotic neutral, but I'm just not feeling it). True neutral characters are the best when done well, and Varric was done very well

Great question and your answer is a good one too. I also loved his goodness and kindness. He was a character that always seemed to support non-violent solutions whent hey were possible and protecting others. It was really refreshing to have a rogue in the party who didn't have a very questionable morality for a change...it was also nice to have at least one party member in DA that was more or less nice to everyone else on the team.

No news so far, we're just comparing what makes Varric attractive to us.

His personality for sure, I'm a sucker for the loveable rogue, always have been. Humour is probably up there as the most attracttive trait a person can have for me.

In a Varric thread?
Yes. I don't like chest hair. Not being attracted to male chests makes me very biased, though.

Got to say some of my favorite shots of Varric have been him with that neckerchief/scarf/whatever on mostly cause it does cover up the chest and it looks damn good on him
Also found something I think quite a few Varric fans did in DA2

I thought there was some datamined information from the game finding recorded lines of Varric alluding to that very ending. I might be confusing that with some fan's wishful thinking.

That's a tough bias to overcome.

No need, there is plenty about Varric to admire without entering the realm of his physicality.
Indeed. As Varric once said, "I am a person not an object." ![]()

No idea one way or the other, I've heard some people say it but I haven't seen any quotes from devs to back it up so I'm taking that with a grain of salt.

I believe this is this origin of the "almost slipped something in " line.
EDIT: I'm not sure how credible this is though. I'm unfamiliar with person who did the interview.

Not sure if this was ever posted here, but it just got posted in the Solas Thread today and I died laughing - it's got a great Varric bit, too. ![]()

Oh, I'm not surprised that there are posters here not into Varric in that way
. Nor do I expect them to be. It was just the question I found random. It would be like someone just posting this "Anyone else not into bald heads?" in the Solas thread. Btw I like Solas's airbender head (Like Tenzin

Thaaaat's what it was. Something almost slipped in, but not actually recorded. Thanks.
Real shame though. Would have been an awesome ending. I imagine it would have been hard to flag that ending though, as you'd have to actually have some sort of romance plot to navigate with him. And if they had that would constitute him mentioning it in his story, thus sort of defeating the purpose.

Thanks for the link, still taking it with a grain of salt though but thank you for the link ![]()

I finally found out how to use NPC heads for Hawke in the romance scenes. Some of the camera angles are funny playing as Varric.
