I wonder why?  Familial loyalty?  Was he afraid she'd blame him?  Or go after Bartrand?  Being resistant to interrogation?

Wonder if we'll find out how she caught him?

Well Varric is very to his family and friends. It's possible he was covering up for Bartrand or hiding bits of information out of a sense of loyalty or duty to his family.

I remember in the Varric codex entry in DA2, it talks about how his mother was a hardcore alcoholic and how Varric spent a good portion of his life caring for her. Yet he never seemed resentful about it. I think it's kind of the same thing with Bartrand. It's sort of a "I hate what you've done but I don't hate you" sort of thing.

I always liked sparing Batrand because of that; it's actually quite sweet. Despite all that has happened Varric comforts his brother and vows to get him help. I hope the fate of Batrand will play a role in Inquisition.

Qunari mage.

My qunari mage will romance Cullen and Varric will tease him incessantly about it and he will tell her stories about The Hawke and The Warden and how they were cousins and he knew them both and he seems to attract mage weirdness.

I'm really excited for the world exploration

Yep, keepin a low profile till the cass thread dies down, when other character threads heat up with complaints over romance alignment (when revealed of course)

I've been thinking of ways to bring things full circle, but trying not to get too much of a hope up.  Dalish Warden+Hawke/Merrill+Dalish Inquisitor/Solas?

So let's have a bright convo!

What aspects are you looking forward to most with DAI?

  • Discovering new lore. I love reading codex entries and the World of Thedas occupies a place of honor on my bookshelf.
  • Morrigan, Morrigan, Morrigan. And my OGB.
  • Scribbles has actually really peaked my interest. She will be my left arm, and Leliana my right.
  • I'm actually hoping to bromance Varric.
  • Interactive banter. Bioware has said that some of the party dialogue is "legendary."
  • The Skyhold sounds amazing - basically like having your own city.
  • ENCHANTMENT!

Hmm. What else? I also am really looking forward to participating in the "Grand Game" of Orlesian politics and wearing fancy masks.

:o

A lot of people still angry that Cassandra was made a straight LI. Lots of debate about what exactly "butch" and "androgynous" mean. One person going so far as to say that Bioware "boned the gay fanbase."

Yeah ....

Please tell me this was the exact wording they used.   My inner Isabela is dying to know.

Me, I'm in here because:

1) A poster broke down a list of game industry priorities based on sexual orientation.  Bisexuals weren't even mentioned.  Unicorn jokes promptly ensued by the bisexuals in the thread.  The remarks were pretty funny, but I had trouble laughing at them.  <_<

2) I've had to ask a person (who was being polite about it) not to use the term "playersexual" to describe all bisexual characters.  They stopped and apologized but it still hurt.

3) It's just crazy that Varric would dare to be a LI.  No one seems willing to even include him at all.  But Solas, Vivienne and Blackwall?  Completely plausible despite one of them being an uber driven woman, and the other damn near close to going to his sodding death.

<sigh>  :(

I'm excited to make a Qunari mage as well. My first one will be a female. I'm really hoping it stirs up some dialogue. Even though the player isn't "Qunari" as in the belief system, it's probably pretty rare to see a female Qunari who fights and is a free mage.

edit: yeah, I can only handle the romance discussion thread so much at a time.. -_- Lots of traffic in there constantly means lots of things being said... giving more chance of stuff being said that rubs me the wrong way. I'm glad we have this place. <3

Taking down dragons one limb at a time.

Finding out what all versions of Alistair are doing.  In one game, he disappeared from the throne when my warden did, don't remember which one.  Did she bring him along?  Did he go on his comic book quest?  When he sees Varric, is he going to go, "Oh, yeah, you!"?

We shall be a safe haven of love and peace. Refugees from others threads are welcome. Come sit by the fire. We have hot cocoa, soft blankets and first aid for the wounded.

In regards to what I'm super interested in...the magic. I love, LOVE mages and from what I've seen of the magic it looks phenomenal. I mean in that PAX demo where they showed Vivienne casting that ice wall spell, how cool was that?

Also the emotion of the Inquisitor. Bioware said that the Inquisitor will be able to display more emotion than any other Bioware protagonist to date. I'm really looking forward to seeing how that will handle. (And be able to hug their companions!!)

Sky hold and Morrigan are up there in my top anticipations. I want to have an understanding perhaps friendship with her but I want it to remain that my warden is her only best friend/ sister . I'm selfish

The poster was Xilizhra, and he said and I quote, "Boning the gay fanbase that had been clearly evident since DA2. And don't try to claim that Bioware had written Cassandra as straight in DA2 either; her sexual orientation never had any sort of relevance."

For me, they're only playersexual if all the options are like that.  Josephine is not playersexual.  Anders, Fenris, Merrill, and Isabella are playersexual, but only in a game together.

Vivienne being Vivienne is one reason I think she might be a LI, as explained on the romance board.  She likes to collect things and an inquisitor seems like something she'd collect.  Compared it to Morrigan, but with power as the (beginning) end goal instead of pregnancy.

I'm excited for that too. x3 I love, love being able to respond to things emotionally! I thought it worked pretty well in ME3 (sometimes...sometimes it went the opposite way I was expecting) so to hear it's even more improved now excites me.

@Silkie You know, not a bad idea.  Only, I'm going to make some coffee and start laundry.  Being productive and listening to good music might just be the ticket.

Xil's a lesbian and if she's that riled up, I'm staying away from that thread.

Hmm exploration is looking pretty good this time around, but I have to say party banter. I cannot wait for Varric and Sera's banter, with each other, with other people, just exciting. (Especially after hearing the IB/Sera banter on the demo today)

It seems to me that dwarves, or male dwarves anyway, come in three flavors.

Craggy and weathered, like Bartrand.

Rugged manliness, Like Varric.

Or Santa, like Bodahn.

Rugged soundrel, Leske.

Loyal Knight, Gorim.

Stereotypical drunk, Oghren.

Stereotypical drunk, Oghren.

I want Gorim to come back.  Wanna meet the little wifey that took priority of the Paragon of Beauty herself!

...Lady Aeducan was already courting the future king of Fereldan, anyway.  I headcanon that Wardens Aeducan and Brosca routinely argue with Anora over whether or not any children of said warden and Alistair deserve the same rights and privileges as any child of Alistair and Anora.

Cross-cultural differences and all.

I accidentally posted this in the Dagna thread (Dagna     :()

I have a weird theory, namely that each companion/advisor writer (except Gaider, of course) is only writing one LI. Cassandra was originally going to be written by Jennifer Hepler, which lends credence to my theory.

Besides Gaider writing two LIs....

Lukas Kristjanson is writing Sera

Sylvia Feketekuty is writing Josephine

Brianne Battye is writing Cullen

Of the five potential LIs left, there are three writers between them (the same number of LIs left).

This leads me to believe that the three LIs left are Vivienne (written by Mary Kirby), Iron Bull (written by Patrick Weekes), and Blackwall (written by Sheryl Chee).

Found this is the romance thread... the last part makes a lot of sense, and now scares me...
