I don't want to romance him. I would just like a reading of Hard in Hightown.

on the off chance we don't get a romance with Varric, I want an audio book reading of Hard in Hightown. Next best thing.

Has nothing on his wit, suave attitude, and quick thinking ;). At least thats what I like about Varric since chest hair ranges from 'meh' to 'eww' for me

I don't like hairy men either and my instinctual reaction to seeing them is to cringe and run away screaming. But Varric isn't really a man is he? He's more of a god.  ;) So, I decided to make an exception! lol I think it gives him a certain charm.

o_o interesting...true! then I support glasses!Varric even moreso now! >w>

Yup, That's me a useless receptacle of Dragon Age random trivia.

It was mentioned first in Dragon Age: Stolen Throne

Maric's Grandfather had a pair of dwarven made specticules, So far that has been the only source of glasses mentioned so as far as the lore goes, only Dwarves are known to makes glasses.

I like a bit of chest hair, myself. Normally I'm not particularly into short men, but that's where Varric's been the exception to me. I don't think he'd be nearly as charming if he was tall (human, I guess?), and I don't know why. His height just adds something to his charm for me.

Oh it does give him charm I won't argue that :D and Varric without chest hair would look strange (i have seen a picture of it and it is weird) but even on Varric the most positive it ranges for me personally is 'meh' but there's just so much of the guy to love that it dosn't even bother me. Why focus on something I'm meh about when I can focus on the stuff I love about him? :)

I agree with that completely, Varric isn't what I usually go for in a man at all. Not in looks, age, stature, build, anything.. I really surprised myself and my friends when I ended up liking him.

One of my friends was completely in love with him after playing DA2 for the first time. I never understood why, just looking at him he didn't seem all that special. She ended up betting me ten bucks that I wouldn't be able to resist falling for him by the end of the game. To which, I confidently took, completely unaware of Varric's irresistible charms.....yup, we all know how that bet went.

Exactly, you don't have to like everything about him! He's a great guy, it's not all about the chest-hair. haha

I'm about the same as you. I do like hair, ya know... not like overdoing it hairy or anything, but a bit I find masculine and attractive. The thing about Varric for me that's so special though, is generally I'm attracted to the 'big strong types' (for both lads and lasses) and Varric's height is just something I never  thought I'd be able to look past initially going into these games... but his personality, man... his personality won me over so hard. That's when I confirmed that looks take a backseat to character, for me. Of course, Varric is already very handsome as is, but not caring about the height thing was something I really surprised myself with.  ^_^

It doesn't matter what the feature is, chest hair, blue eyes, moles, rock-solid abs... they all looks disgusting on a man with an ugly personality, and they all looking amazing on a man with a beautiful personality.

I do hope that Seb show up in Inquisition, I want to see how his epic rampage of revenge turns out. And I want my quizzy to do what the plot armor prevented my Hawke from doing. If he shows up, how do you think Varric will react?

I'm most definitely not one of those gamers who goes into a game thinking "I hope I can KILL everyone who I don't like or agree with, muahaha!" But, after Sebastian threatened me right to my face, he suddenly became a rare exception, right there with Loghain.

I don't think Varric would be too thrilled to see him again considering how he departed (in my game, at least) ... but I never got to really see how Seb/Varric interacted since I so rarely ever took Seb with me anywhere. Does anyone know? My guess would be Varric would constantly joke about his morals and he would get offended and be completely bland/non-humorous in response. XD

You know, it's kind of funny..generally going into a game I tend to pick out who I'm going to romance from the start. But every single time, the character that I wanted to romance is not the one I go for. Varric (not romanceable but I NEVER thought I would've ended up liking him), Anders, Thane and Alistair are all great examples of this. I took a look at all of them and went "meh." I just didn't think they were attractive at all. But then I started to get to know them and see the awesome "people" they were making them the most attractive to me. ^_^

My brother, odd as it seems, knows me better than I do apparently. He's always able to call-out which character I'm going to end up with, even if it seems completely ludicrous at the time. He bet me 15 bucks that I would fall for Alistair by Redcliffe, and sure enough he was right (actually it was probably even before that but details, details). Then he bet me 20 bucks i would go for Anders despite not liking him at all in Awakening and I lost that bet too. Then he bet me 30 dollars that I would go for Thane-....Hmmm, you know what? I should really stop making bets with my brother. LOL

I wasn't attracted to Alistair at first, either... that guy is so... *grumbles* He caught me completely off-guard. I thought for sure Leliana or Zevran would be more my type with my affection for dem sneaky rogues, but I caught 'knight-in-shining-armor' syndrome big time. :P

I almost always spare people, I believe in second chances. But wth Seb? Threatening an entire city just because you hate two people who most likely are long gone by the time he's gathered his damn army? That's just stupid. I hope Varric makes some jokes about Seb's brilliant strategy.

Anders and Alistair do sneak up on you! I never did the Thane romance. I did Kaidan first, then Garrus and I haven't been able to let Garrus go. Besides with the meta knowledge of ME3, it's really hard to romance Thane or Jacob. It's not worth it when your alternative is Garrus's perfect romance.

Haha, I tried to fight it, I really did. If only to not give my brother the satisfaction of being right for the second time. But my "what are you talking about? I don't smile like an idiot every-time I see Alistair in camp" charade probably wasn't very convincing (especially since I WAS smiling like an idiot everytime I saw Alistair in camp). I remember stomping over to my brother and throwing the money at him before running back to choose the romance dialogue for Alistair. I didn't even stay to see the look on his face but I know he had the biggest grin from ear to ear. Evident from the smug "I told you so" he shouted as I left.

For DA: Inquisiton the LI underdog for me is Solas...I have a feeling that I'll end up liking him alot if the pattern continues. So, we'll see... Of course, that's only if Varric isn't available and Solas does end up being an LI after all.

Yes in a way it has to do with his crossbow sized wedding ring. As much as I love Bianca the weapon, It is more than just her that gives Varric the widower vibe. Varric has a second wedding ring. His necklace that I like to call his backup cocking ring. The necklace looks like a over sized wedding band on a chain. I know I could give Varric daggers and change his armor, but I still feel like that chain will always be under his shirt.

B)  I can understand that, I don't mind when people see Varric that way, as long as they don't start being insulting to Varricmancers... and call them "selfish and weird".  <_<

Will Cher ever get over that? Probably, but not until DA:I is there to distract her.

OOh, I haven't tried romancing Garrus yet but I've watched some videos of it on youtube and...just amazing. I love the whole "fall in love with your best friend" trope. Which was a big reason why I loved Alistair so much in DAO, and why I ended up falling for Varric as well!

I'll have to try it sometime! If I can manage to find my ME games that is... <_<

Thane's romance was such an emotional rollercoaster for me. And completely heartbreaking at the end but I don't regret doing it one bit. He was a lovely character and I loved his romance arc so much! That said I don't think I'd subject myself to that sort of pain knowingly  again. We knew he was dying from the moment we met him, so it wasn't really much of a surprise honestly. Which is why Balckwall is a huge NO for me if he's romanceable. If his calling ends up being part of his story, I don't think I can handle it. It'll already be hard to lose him as a friend (again IF they go that direction with his arc). He's not really my type though anyway...so I say now lol
