Yes in a way it has to do with his crossbow sized wedding ring. As much as I love Bianca the weapon, It is more than just her that gives Varric the widower vibe. Varric has a second wedding ring. His necklace that I like to call his backup cocking ring. The necklace looks like a over sized wedding band on a chain. I know I could giver Varric daggers and change his armor, but I still feel like that chain will always be under his shirt.

Okay, I can respect that. I don't have a problem with other people having different opinions than me, it's not just a thread for people who want to romance Varric after all. It's like Chernaya said, as long you don't bash me for wanting  to romance him we should get along just fine! :D I think your part about the necklace is pretty interesting by the way. I never really thought of it like that.

If Blackwall turns out to be the last LI, then I do hope that they make it a let's live while we can sort of story rather than the I'm dying, angst angst angst kind. I wouldn't mind it if you enter the romance knowing that he's dying and that there is nothing to do about it. What I wouldn't like is what they did with Thane, teasing about a cure and then killing him anyway. Giving you false hope is just cruel.

B)  I can understand that, I don't mind when people see Varric that way, as long as they don't start being insulting to Varricmancers... and call them "selfish and weird".  <_<

Will Cher ever get over that? Probably, but not until DA:I is there to distract her.

I understand why people want to romance him. His a very handsome man. I don't think it is wrong. If he is romance-able I might give his a ride. He reminds me of Aveline. Why don't you love me Aveline!!

eh, i kinda get what you're saying, but that thing is way too big to be a wedding band so i'm not feeling the ring thing. interesting idea though

Yeah, that was pretty terrible. Then that comment about how they forgot about him, just really ruffled my feathers. How could they drop the ball so badly with him? I'm glad they at least tried to remedy it with the Citadel DLC but that doesn't take away from the fact that Thane was so poorly handled in ME3..

If it was the size of a real wedding band no one would see it very well. But, it does have many uses.

Sometimes it feels as if they took all the romance resources from Jacob and Thane and gave it to Garrus. When I first learned about how they were treated I kind of felt bad. And honestly, Thane was bad but Jacob... I have no words for what they did to Jacob. I never romanced him, but ever since I found out about him I've been so tempted to send him into his beloved vents.

that's one of the oddest things for me. why, are are we weird? I mean, personally, i think besides cassandra and cullen, it makes the most sense why we're so interested in Varric. We know him. I know I'm interested in romancing the other characters, but I'm not nearly as invested in them as Varric. I have a hard time wrapping my head around getting so excited to romance someone when they might turn out to be someone you really don't like much.

Example: I think Leliana is really cool on paper, badass lady and all, but I could never romance her. Mostly because of her voice and over-eager disposition.

But I'm just speaking for myself. Not trying to put down anyone else's excitement or anything. :)

I never romanced Jacob either. The really interesting thing about Jacob though, is that he never wanted anything serious. He's really up front about that and if you try to get him to talk about his feelings he immediately breaks up the affair. So him finding someone in ME3 actually kinda made sense.

Thane though. It was a tear-jerker. Very sad. Very.

I was also kinda sad how we never had a memorial for Legion in ME3... he died too.

I can handle weird. I don't mind being weird. But I can't really see the selfish part, I assume it's because of Bianca? Which is silly, because we don't know what's happened to her. I mean, what if she's dead? How is it selfish for us to want to romance him then? People remarry all the time if their partner is dead! People have divorces all the time and move on! Does that make them selfish? I guess I could understand it if she was present in DA2 and they lived together or something, but she's gone!

JACK. Man I missed her. Here's a question- why wasn't she a romance option for femshep? I mean she's open about being with women before. (one of) my femshep(s) would have totally gone for her.

She really got the short end of the stick in ME3. Cool hair cut though

Mark of the Assassin, si.

I loved MotA.  I thoroughly enjoyed most of DA2's DLC. Was a good break from the main story which could get kinda monotonous without something different in between.

That explains it, I never played that one...

Nah, conversation's moved on.

She was one of those girls that played around in high school and college, and then learned that she wanted kids and a husband.

I know, you think she would have been a party member with the big makeover.

I was never too fond of Jacob to begin with ( and what I mean by that is if Javik had been around to throw him out of an airlock, I wouldn't have had any objections. )

But that doesn't mean I don't feel for his fans, when I saw how poorly Thane had been treated I thought we Drell lovers had gotten the short end of the stick. Then my friend introduced me to the horror that was the Jacob romance in ME3 and I suddenly didn't feel so bad about my situation with Thane. I mean we had it bad in ME3 but they had it BAD.....I'm glad they gave the F!sheps that romanced Jacob the option to slap him in the DLC, he deserved it. <_<

I was so sad when I couldn't recruit her. I liked her in ME2, but she was such a friggin badass in ME3!

Thane made perfect sense. One of the very first things he says when you meet him in ME2 is that he's dying. If you go into that relationship hoping for a happy ending then I don't know what to say. A case could obviously be made for just more interactions with him in ME3, but then at least I personally don't really know how to feel about spending a significant amount of time with a character essentially watching and waiting for them to die.

That said, one of my favorite runs through the trilogy was with a FemShep who pursued both Thane and Kaidan.
