Come on guys, we're supposed to be the no drama thread! I do hope Kath comes back because I won't want her to miss the big celebration when Varric gets announced (see? I said when not if. Nothing but positive vibes from this lady ) We have less than 5 days to go now till gamescom. Lets keep this thread a fun and happy place to be in! So I said I'd buy the collector edition of the game if Varric was a LI...since I was too scared to wait (good thing I didn't!) I bought it anyway. Now I need to come up with something else to do instead. I'm thinking a video to show my happiness Anyone planning on doing something besides "Operation Stud Muffin"?

 

You are absolutely right! Let's be positive and happy in here. And when the time comes, I'll make some sketches to deal with all the feels.

At least it was over with pretty quickly! I just wish I could scrub all of those pictures out of my mind. Maker...I still have nightmares about it. *shivers*

 

Maybe its because I really only looked at one picture that someone else put up and the ones I  put up of an attractive guy who played Jesus on TV, but which pictures are you referring too if you don't mind my asking?

I know im not there alot, because this thread have exploded since the first one XD and with my daugther i cant be here as much as i want to.. but you need to understand something, alot of people here wish for varric as a romance since da2 and we just want to be optimist ! Everybody is free to share theirs opinions but sometime its hurt people feeling and you need to be carefull about that, this thread is the best thing that happened on bsn.... lets not ruins it! Kath plz come back!

I didn't even attack the Varric romancers. I just said my feeling and my feeling alone. And then, she told me to get out. I would be happy if Varric was a romance. He would not be my first pick, but I would still give his romance a try. Can we all agree that Varric is one hot piece of stone.

I was watching that Lady Insanity video on Varric, and at the end she posed a question:  What will make Varric stay loyal to the Inquisition?

 

I'm at a bit of a loss, personally, on what would make join the Inquisition.  From Mary Kirby's interview he seems like he'll be more miserable than ever before.  The Inquisition itself doesn't seem like the same happy-go-lucky bunch of characters that Hawke traveled with.

 

Only thing I can think of that would get him to leave his home and throw in with Cassandra's lot is if he was promised something he couldn't refuse.  Some information on a certain someone, perhaps.  I just don't see "being part of the story" as enough to get him to endure what he is going to endure.  Not this time.

 

So, Varric Thread, what is your opinion on his motivations?

(Also, as I speculated before, Varric likely feels partly responsible for the use of red lyrium by the Red Templars. It was his expedition that found the idol, effectively "unleashing" it on Thedas. That's why the destruction of Crestwood by the Red Templars hits him hard: it's more deaths that he is indirectly responsible for.)

I suspect the fact that he's a really good guy will be enough reason for him to join up with the Inquisition. But I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves if the Inquisitor acts like an evil dictator.

The merchant guild is the only one making money in the Civil War. The Inquisition can use their underground trade roots to quickly through the fighting. Maybe, the more of an investor in the Guild we become the higher his motivation will be in the Inquisition.

I dunno, Varric's a big hearted guy! Even if he's had enough of being dragged into everyone's business, if he knows it's helping save the world I don't think he'd hesitate. So, personally I don't think it took much (if any) convincing or bribing to get him to tag along.
