Tbh, I know next to nothing about Pain or Naruto so I won't even debate if the character is as awesome as you seem to think he is. I'm not really into anime or manga so I'm just going to take your word for it. But that clip just made me go wtf? I'm guessing it makes sense in context.

I've liked a small amount of them in my life, but I'm not really into them either. I've never even seen Naruto before. xD Back in the day I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop a lot, though.

I watched Pokémon and Sailor Moon as a kid, both with horrible dubs. That's how far my experience with anime goes. Loved it back then but now I want to strangle team Rocket every time they show up to repeat their stupid mantra.

You know, I was saying the other day in the Cullen thread that I could easily see a film noir type detective story being set in Kirkwall.

 

My idea was to put Cullen in the detective role (partially because he's obviously not the grizzled type we usually get) and have him forced to unravel the mystery, with Varric playing the role of resident spymaster who knows far more about things than he's letting on.

 

Or I could just write it I suppose...

I hope they announce Varric as LI in the next few days as I could do with cheering up after getting a chest infection which I've been unsuccessfully fighting for 11 days, finding out I'm allergic to the antibiotics I've been prescribed today, and also having a gallbladder pain attack (I have gallstones). <insert sarcastic tone here> Awesome times.

*It flashbacks to a smokey office in Lowtown. It's raining outside.  Varric, dressed in a smart suit, is seen smoking a cigar at his desk. He's leaning back in his chair with his feet up, reading a newspaper*

Kirkwall. Not the easiest city to get a foothold.

 

*He throws the paper on top of the desk, the headline reads "Mage and Templar gang wars break out in Kirkwall"*

 

but if you make the right connections, spin a good story now and then, you can even work a dangerous place like Lowtown without gettin' bumped off. To a lot of people, it's the worst place to live in this city but for me? It's home sweet home.

 

*He pours himself some scotch*

 

I used to run a joint business with my brother. I say run, most of the time I was trying to stop him from running it into the ground.He was a big mook for sure but he was family, not much I could do about that. Couldn't exactly cut him loose so I was on the look out for a third business partner for our next big score. In the meantime my brother handled trade while I was all about buying and selling information. It was my business to know everyone else's business in this town and when you deal in information, you continue to be surprised at the kind of people that walk through your door.

Hawke: Varric Tethras?

 

*Varric tilts his hat up with a thumb and grins at the figure*

Of all the dives she could have walked into , she decided to walk into mine. She stood in the doorway, tall, beautiful, she was the kind of woman a man has trouble forgettin'.She told me her name was Hawke. A name I recognized. Word was she was a refugee workin' for Athenril, most likely for protection. Her name was on a lot of people's lips these days...and I wouldn't have minded hers on mine either.

Hawke: I heard you were the man to see about a business proposition

Varric: I am

 

*He motions to the empty chair across from him*

 

Varric: Make yourself at home

 

Hawke: Thank you

 

*She removes her coat and sits down*

 

Now, normally I'd tell anyone I like my women on the petite side but when she took off that coat *whistles* I'd be lying if I said I didn't have an appreciation for legs that went all the way up to Antiva. They said Hawke was dangerous but I wondered how many were actually talking about her gams.

 

Varric: So what can I do for you today Angel?

 

She poured herself a glass of scotch and then filled up my empty glass. It seemed she liked to conduct business over drinks like I did.

 

Hawke: I was hoping to go into business with you Mr.Tethras

 

Varric: Oh? Interest you do I?

 

*she smiles*

 

Hawke: Actually I'm more interested in The Deep Roads

 

First time I heard that one.

 

Varric: I see...and what were you hopin' to find down there?

 

Hawke: You tell me

 

It seemed she had information on me too. I was really starting to like this girl.

 

Varric: You heard about my next business venture I take it?

 

Hawke: Yes and I also hear you're looking for a new partner Mr.Tethras. I want in

 

Suddenly things got a lot more interestin'.

Oh gosh, that sucks! are you still fighting the good fight?

I found out I was allergic to penicillin when I like like 8 the first time I went to Disney world. I had a cold and they prescribed me with the stuff... Then had to be rushed to the hospital.

There will be much celebration soon, hopefully. This drought can't last forever!
