I really want to like Sebastian, he just makes it hard for me to want to keep him in my party due to his preaching at the rest of my companions. Much like their interaction with Tallis, I never got that the others liked him all much and only put up with him (and her) because Hawke's there. It's particularly strange to hear Varric having so little patience for Sebastian as well, given that he's able to at least tolerate it whenever Fenris, Anders and Carver are in a particularly grouchy mode.

 

I always try to rival the guy, since he grows a spine and makes his final rage-quit if you spare Anders seem more in-character, yet it's hard when he approves everytime you accept most of his quests.

 

I think Isabela's right, he sounded far more interesting before he was stuck in the Chantry, when he was more like her! He sounds like he'd have been a blast to hang out with back then!

I mean, he's a grouchy pain in the ass, but given all the pointless political BS he has to put up with working for the viscount I can't really blame him. And a lot of his dialogue with Hawke comes off like he's trying to give information but still give himself deniability. To me, anyway.

 

... Granted, I'm a lot more sympathetic to Sebastian than a lot of people here are, at least in that scene. I mean, yeah, he's being melodramatic and dumb, but his parental figure just got murdered. I can cut him some slack for that.

 

True enough, I'm just an ass. 

 

To be honest, I seem to end up having a problem with pretentious types, and I guess that's how I saw those two. And I wished Seb would have just made up his damn mind about what he wants to do with his life, and also to do his own dirty work, which I suppose he finally decided at the end, in the worst way imaginable... for me, at least. XD

Oh i get why Seb is upset I get that 100% I still don't condone him damning an entire city for what one man did and I can't cut him slack for not doing it him myself after all Anders was right there and if there had been an option I would have told Sebastian to do it himself if he wanted Anders dead so badly. If you want something done, do it don't try to make someone else do it for you.

Admittedly, part of the reason I can cut him some slack is because I don't think for a second he'd actually go through with it. He's pissed off and hurting, so when Hawke basically blows him off after everything that's happened he flips his lid. My guess is he won't actually attack Kirkwall after he's had a second to stop and think, though he'll probably still be trying to kill Anders and maybe Hawke.

I don't think he could if he wanted to, to be honest but it still irks me a little after all Anders was right there Abstainer could try to kill him if he wanted to (which is why I wish there was an option to tell him to do it himself) but I may have been fed up at that point with everyone wanting Hawke to do everything at that point so may not have been of the best place of judgment on my part^^;

It's funny that Seb missed being friends with my Hawke in my canon because of a lost save. I got his DLC after finishing the game (in which I had killed Anders) and played it as friends. But after I lost the save and had to redo the playthrough, now he was in the main game as a rival and I changed my mind and spared Anders, so away he went xD

Also, yesterday I rewatched the Bartrand scene with what seems to be the one grumpy player who didn't find the embellished part awesome and funny.

But after I lost the save and had to redo the playthrough, now he was in the main game as a rival and I changed my mind and spared Anders, so away he went xD

Along with my other reinterpretations of DA2, I have the sneaking suspicion that Varric cut out the parts of the tale where Hawke (of either gender) tried to hit on him after one too many pints at the Hanged Man, and/or showed up to his room wearing just a loose robe.

Many of us in here are hoping that since it's been 10+ years he's starting to live for himself more than pining over someone else, so we may get moments like it in DAI if we're lucky ~

Yeah, he's still a wishy-washy, authoritarian idiot. Of course he's going to ask for Hawke's opinion, because Hawke's in charge and Sebastian's not great at thinking for himself, even when he's having a snit.

 

If it sounds like I'm defending the guy against all comers, no. I don't particularly like Seb all that much. But I do feel for him in that particular scene.
