I don't really like playing as a mage, which is hilarious considering how pro-mage I am... it's the fighting, I really like mages but rogue is my comfort zone in fighting. (plus I love playing sassy characters and rogues just fit that personality) But the premise of DAI is making me want to leave my comfort zone, which is awesome. So therefore I'm 99% sure my first character will be a mage.
I also am a fan of interracial relationships. But if Varric is dwarf only, I'm perfectly fine with that. But if he is dwarf only, I'll be really po'd if he isn't bisexual. That's just too much restriction going on. :/

I would think that gated options would be bi, to widen their net just a bit further. But that's just me and I'm not writing the characters. My hope is that his popularity makes him not-gated, but then that means someone else is gated, and...I can't think of anyone I wanted gated against anything.

Actually, I think we know that's not true at this point. David Gaider explicitly said that one of the race-gated characters has already been announced, Josephine and Iron Bull aren't gated, and the other four options are straight/gay/lesbian. So we know one of the characters is gated for both gender and race.
But yeah, race-gating is kind of odd to figure out, since I'm not sure anyone would want any specific character to be gated. I still think the most obvious gate choices at this point are Varric, Vivienne, and Cullen. If Varric and Vivienne are both in I could see Varric being free and clear, which would be awesome. On the other hand, I can't see Solas or Blackwall being gated, so if the last two romance options are both men, Varric's probably race-gated. (But also probably an LI, so, hey.) But that's all rampant speculation, so it's hard to say what will happen.
My hunch is that one of the unannounced LIs will be a bi ungated male because Iron Bull was originally gated. But predicting the gates is really hard with so little info. I think Varric, Cassandra and Vivienne sound more likely to be gated.
