I have trouble imagining Bianca wanting him back though.

 

To be fair, I don't want Bianca to be an issue. Maybe a sidequest to reconcile and become friends but that's it. I'd hate to have to deal with years old baggage because Varric can't let go.

Yeah apparently so, I've typed replies and deleted them about 5 times to about 3 different comments, it's just not worth it anymore...I'm drained basically lol

Nah, I think Bloom is ga-ga for Bianca, judging from the way he talks about her.   So a crossbow is Bloom's spirit animal.

I think we're just the most vocal of the Varricmancers.  There is a lot of folks that have been told to give it up for literally years now, and they've stopped mentioning their desires to have a Varric romance.  We're getting those fires stoked again, because many of us that are more vocal have made it clear that while we expect no, we hope for yes.

Eh, I didn't notice that, just more that they think we're a little delusional is all.  They don't hate Varric, nor are they really talking smack about him, they just have their own reasons why they think Varric isn't going to be a LI.  

 

We want a dwarven romance from BioWare.  That alone looks like a laughable statement, given the company's history.  However, that alone proves that we're a stubborn bunch of guys and gals.   We can't let some posters that disagree with us get us down.  

 

We must have the backs of ducks, the pride of our ancestors, the skin of stone, the will of iron, and keep our heads high until either we have the last laugh, or the devs dash our dreams for good.  Either way, our expectations can't get any lower, so we don't have anything to lose.  

 

Also, I noticed I've gotten likes for that Varricmancer post from people who don't post in this thread much if at all.  I really think we're not alone on the forums, we're just the loudest out of the remaining hopefuls.

Personally I think the race gating has helped improve his chances, and I'll take having to roll a dwarf over not romancing him at all.
I'm still interested in Varrics reasons for being involved in the Inquisition, perhaps he wants to find Hawke, or it's related to the red lyrium and the Thaig they discovered. I'm sure whatever his arc is it will be interesting, I'm looking forward to seeing him that's not necessarily the 'BFF' role, and wondering what you could do to make him leave the Inquisition?!

I honestly don't get why it's so hard to have a Dwarf LI. Is it because Varric truly can't? Fine, give us someone else. But nope. Does the Bioware team really think no one wants to romance Dwarves after all the fangasming everyone's done? Argh. /bitter

 

Maybe Cassandra forced him to help her find Hawke?

@Oracle I haven't thought that far to be honest, about any of the characters.  I guess I haven't thought about dismissing any of them yet, especially Varric.  From the little demo video from last year, I probably would have gone to save the village too, so I doubt we'll butt heads much on my first character.  

 

Ever since I heard about race gating, my mind immediately went to Varric and (who we know now as) Iron Bull.  Just try not to be depressed.  If they're right and we're wrong, then nothing has changed.  We'll have music, crying gifs and a lot of e-hugs, then carry on.  

 

If we're right and they're wrong, then all I can ask is to not go screaming, "I TOLD YOU SO!!" into the Romance thread.  No matter how tempting it might be.  Varric fans take the high road.  Like Varric, we must always strive to stay classy.
