That's how I see it going, Hawke save Varric from a fatal blow and is like Hi, there you are and my Warden goes to Cass, I heard you were looking for

 

me.-they aren't that hard to find just look for the biggest, nearest trouble and they will be there as trouble tends to follow them.

Yeah, I hope the actual appearance in-game will come out of left field.

 

The first warden I imported into 2 was a male elf with white hair.  When I went on a mission that ended with people saying they we're looking for an elf and to kill anyone going into the house, and then here comes Fenris...

 

So while I kinda want hints that the warden and Hawke are doing something awesome, I don't want to go into a mission thinking, "This is where we'll meet them."

I'd hope that there can be a positive reunion at all though. We don't know the circumstances of their parting (Hawke and Varric). Unless people more familiar with the extended universe know, and I just don't. xD
