I don't really have an opinion on the matter, I was just the finder.
I know. That was more directed at Bernbliss.

Found it:
- Hawke: I heard you're being fixed up with one of the Helmi daughters.
- Varric: Thanks Hawke. I've been trying to forget about that all week.
- Hawke: So... not love at first sight?
- Varric: Dusana Helmi is easy on the eyes. Also, she's tried to kill me five times this year.
- Hawke: Did she try again during the date?
- Varric: She waited until I paid for dinner. She's in the Merchant's Guild, Hawke.
- Hawke: So, you're not going to see her again?
- Varric: No. And I might leave town for a while just to make sure.
- Hawke: Being the most eligible bachelor in the Merchant Guild is perilous indeed.
- Varric: I'm going to need more aliases.
I am sadden I never heard that banter before and I take Varric with me pretty much everywhere. I'll have to pay extra attention next time ![]()
Saw this on tmblr- should we play?

Never too late!
I'm late! I'm late!

For the meme.
So I'm answering this for Isileth Adaar, rogue. Yes, I have settled on a name! Let's see what I can conjure up about her, bearing in mind she's still a little vague in my head at the moment...
*off to bed*
Can we just not talk about his lack of chance of being an LI and shooting down peoples reasoning? We don't do it in other's threads, we support everyone's chances.
Not wanting him as an LI is one thing and I'm fine with it, but shooting down other's optimism and what keeps them hoping for something they really want is just rude. I highly doubt any one of us here has done it to others because we've been respectful about the subject so grant us the same courtesy. You don't have to agree but respect others optimism and don't openly and continuously try to prove them other wise.
Oh, not just the LI announcements. I meant 80% of things in general. I have a list of like 30 or so things, and I mean broad subjects instead of very specific things, that I would have liked in Inquisition but have been confirmed as not being in it. And some of those things Bioware has expressed they are not interested in doing so won't be in future games either.
I think the game wants me to hate it.
As for LIs, yeah the only ones that interest me are Cassandra and Josephine. Cullen is fine I guess but I've never got all the swooning he gets, Iron Bull seems like he'll be a fun guy but I have doubts I'll like his romance since he seems like the Zevran of Inquisition, Sera and Dorian I had hopes for but those have been dashed.
Whoops, replying to this a bit late because I didn't realize the thread would move so quickly in the hour or so I was gone! Here we go:
Oh, sorry, I misinterpreted what you meant! That does suck indeed, then.
Other than still hoping for Varric, I'm really excited about Josephine, Sera, and Dorian though Dorian will have to wait until a later playthrough if I get to him since I'm definitely playing a female PC for my first playthrough this time around. Cullen and Iron Bull aren't really my types either, though I hope their fans will enjoy them.
About to go into the Deep Roads. Haha. I love the plot and being in orzamar , but the beginning part is more tedious to me (Until you get to the Dead Trenches)
I love Orzammar too! Definitely my favorite part of the game. Coming back as a dwarf PC always feels so good. They really wrote that part well. I don't even mind the Deep Roads, unlike most people, even if they aren't my favorite part of Orzammar, obviously. It never really felt that long to me.
Isn't that a little convenient? I have seen this same argument come up alot when it came to Cassandra's sexuality, but she turned out straight.
I'm not trying to ****** in anyone's dreams btw, just voicing my thoughts on the matter
How would that be convenient? I'm bisexual myself, but I'm sure pretty much everyone I know assumes I'm straight because I don't really talk about it much (partially because I figured it out later in life than most, partially because I'm awful at figuring out how to bring it up) and I have a boyfriend.
I agree, I hate Carth Syndrome and do not want it again. But I think it's an opportunity for Bioware to write a story with a lost love without turning the wangst up to 11. A long lost love does not automatically turn into Carth Syndome. It's risky, I admit it. But done right, it could be very powerful
Yeah, I suppose I don't really consider Varric's case to be Carth Syndrome, since I always assumed it meant someone whose previous love interest died. Afterall, having a previous love interest they were really passionate about is just a pretty common thing in real life too. I'm only just now playing KOTOR so that's probably just a misconception on my part.
I can see why some people would be turned off by the Varric/Bianca thing, but I personally prefer Varric just gets over Bianca, regardless of the way in which he does. To me, being hung up on someone who you haven't seen in at least 10 years is just way too unhealthy. I'm totally fine with him either starting a relationship with the Inquisitor, Bianca, somebody else, or just not being interested in the Inquisitor but if Varric rejects the Inquisitor just because he's still hung up on Bianca, I'll be annoyed. Of course, I personally prefer that Varric gets over Bianca in a way most beneficial to me, but I won't complain.
It's just personal preference, of course, as to whether the Carth Syndrome thing or being hung up on Bianca bothers you more.
Yes! I'm glad I'm not alone on this. I know that the body count for Hawke and the Warden were big but I take more satisfaction in de-escalating issues then killing those in my way. I think Varric and my Diplomatic Qunari will be a good fit, seeing as they both would like the world to just be normal again or at least some semblance of 'normal'.
Yeah, you are definitely not alone.
I realize in a game like this, we're probably going to have to kill some people but I do like preventing that as much as I can and it seems like we'll have a lot more flexibility in that in Inquisition.
Dang, when I copypasted that dialogue, I accidentally erased all my progress on that questionnaire... fuuuuuuuu. ![]()

Who shot down optimism? I just pointed out that dialogue that showed that Varric was unhappy being fixed up means that the notion he is ready to date again was false.

This! It's one thing to say that you're not into him and would prefer other LI's, but please don't stir things up
And everyone is welcome to participate in the chest hair adoration, it doesn't matter if you're interested in romance or bromance! All we demand in return is that you respect our optimism.

Yup.
It's not the first time you or others have been in here claiming that the things that give people hope and excitement are wrong. It's a part of the reason why we lost a poster, all the nay sayers not letting us have our optimism.
I won't point out reasons over the thread and if you really want to be told what I have personally seen you posted that has dampened some positivity in our thread, PM me. I have no problem have a mature discussion over it.
EDIT: And you might not see it that way, even I don't see it that way but the point of it is that Bernbliss and others do. I respect it, and won't shut them down about it. That's all I'm asking about is respecting their thoughts on the situation .

It was more akin to disproving evidence on something that some one mentioned and then cited.

I never said the "Him being ready to date again" was wrong, just that basing it off that Legacy dialogue is since that shows the opposite.
So basically those of us who don't want him as a romance can only say we don't him but can't give reasons because it may damper other's optimism?
I'm done talking about it on the thread, if it needs to be discussed more...just PM me.
Edit: And I didn't say you couldn't post reasons WHY. It would be a courtesy if people would not dampen the reasons people think of it as a positive chance is what I said.
OMG KITTIES!
I feel we suddenly need more cute animals and hugging in here
SOO KEWT!
I agree and wish to add to the nice gifs

While I somewhat agree, they should still be allowed to post their opinion on it
I'm so bummed we don't have a mabari.
I think most character threads have their sensitive spots, and the Varric LI is a big part of this one. From the beginning the tight-knit group in here making up the people who kick-started the thread all talked about how we want to remain hopeful until the end, and it seems to be pretty much the only thing that creates tension around here. *hugs thread*
I'm so bummed we don't have a mabari.
Same.
Dog aka Barkspawn was one of my favorite companions in Origins. I always love having pets.
Perhaps this picture of Grumpy Cat as the Little Mermaid will brighten up this thread?

Mabari D: I want another one they are such cute big puppehs o wuv ![]()

Absolutely, I agree. And they can, but I think posting your opinion is different than belittling someone and actively attempting to to prove someone wrong. I'm not saying someone has done it now, because they didn't now. But, it HAS been done in the past and out of the remaining characters with chances of LI from what I've seen there has been more nay sayers coming here.
EDIT: And my original post was meant to also be a generalized thing I have been feeling since we lost one of our posters.
I'm so bummed we don't have a mabari.
*Wiggles hand non-committally*
Honestly, you could see in DA2 that they were starting to run out of dog jokes. And the association with mabari is one of the few things that set Fereldans apart from the rest of Thedas. When any Free Marcher or Orlesian can own a mabari, well, why do people call the Fereldans "dog-lords"?
I shall always be a Fereldan at heart. ![]()
