Sure, but Anders didn't. If it's a song about Anders, it should reflect his viewpoints.
Suppose, but on the other hand.
Why would people care about insanity's viewpoint?
You don't talk to insanity, you don't reason with insanity, if you are lucky you trap it in the trunk of your limo and shoot it dead.
i hate being out of likes, but I have one in my heart for you, pevesh, and foelhe ![]()
I started out listing all the characters I wanted to romance for each character, in order of preference. That was easy. But you also want to cover everyone, so you have to be willing to switch things around if someone ends up gated in a way you didn't expect. And of course some of the characters might really surprise you... yeah, it's a mess.
I'm still procrastinating my way out of doing this...plus with all the various outcomes from DA:O/A and DA2 who knows how many damned playthroughs I'll have to do at 150 hours a pop. Oh well, now I think about it that sounds way better than work.

If you don't care about someone's viewpoint, you probably shouldn't be thinking up songs that represent them. It's kinda doubtful you'd do a good job of it.
I mean, I hated Zevran (nothing personal to his fans) but if someone came up with a song for him that showed him in a positive light, I'm willing to let the fanbase have their fun with it. No sense ducking my head in and going, "Well, but I think that song ignores the fact that he's A COMPLETE B******!"

It's the thought that counts!

You do realize i was quoting the hangover part three right?
I think he was a bat**** insane terrorist, but i'm willing to let them have their fun with the "angsty" revolutionary.
.-.
Anyway, my initial comment was for the potential derailment that seems to follow any mention of anders and the circle, the last thing i'd want is the varric thread turning into the next battlefield for the mage/templar argument.

that he is! because he doesn't know who his daddy is! lol

Oh god, both the male LI's in DA:O were bastards. And then DA2 came along.

lol! Well, as far as we know, Anders might have have known his father. Sebastain knew his dad. Fenris can't remember anything so there goes that.
For DAI, we know Varric knows his dad so that's cool ![]()
Is it that odd that a family could have members that are so different from each other? It seems like most families have at least one member who is the odd-one-out. I know my family members are all pretty different from each other and my brother and I especially are practically opposites.
Sure, family members influence each other, but people have other influences in there lives as well. Cadash could have easily seen how at odds their family was with the rest of society and could have hated and resented that.
It is not odd to be different than the rest of the family, what is odd is being so different yet choosing to still work for an organization that doesn't represent your values. Especially if you hate and resent it. It doesn't really matter what your reasoning is for choosing to stay in "the life", at the end of the day it means you put other interests above being a moral person. It makes future good acts seem like hypocrisy.
This wasn't really an issue for me in DA:O because I could be a Dwarf Noble, and their backstory left plenty of room for being the archetypical good-guy. Brosca was harder because there was the fixed past of having hurt innocent people (again, the reasons are irrelevant to me).
This is not to say bad people can't change, or seek redemption, or that it prevents positive qualities. But that sort of life should leave a mark on a person. That mark is hard for me to roleplay in characters and, therefore, isn't a past I like to have. I realize this is entirely my own shortcoming. I just really love Dwarves and I'm not thrilled about having to have a criminal past in DA:I.

It's cool, I thought the quote was apt though, also it made me chuckle a bit.

Aww...thanks. Fittingly, the like I gave this post of yours was my last like.
First time I've run out of them.

Well, I think you got to take in the effect of someone's context into the decisions they make. You can want to make moral decisions, but feel like you have little other option, especially in a sort of crime family like this where you probably would get hunted down if you left. Brosca would have starved if they left the Carta and would have abandoned their family if they left for the surface, much like their dad did so I imagine it is easy for them to be bitter about that.
I do ultimately agree with you that I would, of course, rather have the option of playing a dwarf without a criminal background as it would be a lot easier to roleplay, but I'll manage so it doesn't bother me too much.
That's my Hawke's song for Anders.
hehehe. Now I'm tempted to find one for Bela. And Varric of course...
I wasn't the biggest Zevran fan either, initially... I was a tad mad at him for awhile for trying to kill me and stuff. He grew on me some, though. xD
I'm back~
How's everyone here?
Welcome back. :3 I'm purdy good, how are you?

He disarmed my hostility almost immediately with his laissez-faire attitude towards life. Probably my favorite overall romance in DA:O.

Yeah, that's how he disarmed me too, but more slowly lol. Then he tried to kill me at the end of my first game. :x *thinks about how horrible she was at everything back then* ... I'm glad I just erased that file and started over.
I was reading a story where Varric visited a brothel and it reminded me of this...
In pain but I'll live.Welcome back. :3 I'm purdy good, how are you?
Phew, caught up. A lot of background craziness going on right now, rewrites and trashing fluttering all over the forums!
And keep the prayer circle going!
I don't think my Adaar would like being a mercenary, but would see it necessary to stay free and it fits into her always moving background anyway.
(quote is older than I expected!)
That is much how I'm trying to see Isileth right now - maybe I can view it as "joined only in last few months for some reason or other" - to pay off a debt maybe? Like Hawke could decide to would help them get into Kirkwall. Or... the company helped her, rescued her perhaps, and made her sign up as recompense?
Or, I guess, the exploration is a dream, a hobby, a passion she is working to be able to afford to indulge.
In pain but I'll live.
Hopefully.
just kidding I will
Get better soon!
Hey it was just a friendly joke trying to cheer you up!
I get that you're really sad about all this, but isn't there anything that you look forward to?
With every day that passes, there is less and less.
In pain but I'll live.

aw, baby pains? whatever it may be, I hope you feel better soon ![]()
Yeah, I think Cadash's background will be sufficiently different than Brosca's and that it is largely a superficial similarity with them both belonging to the Carta. Cadash is a surfacer and seems to play a more important role in the Carta, so they are probably live quite a lot more comfortably (not that that necessarily says much, considering the poverty Brosca came from) and have grown up in an entirely different culture.
Of course, I would have loved if they'd given Cadash a more distinct background but I just don't think there is a whole lot that fits. Dwarven noble doesn't work, because there are two different families that could be potentially in charge and we've done that already. Dwarven warrior caste serving as a guard we be too much like the QunQuisitor's. What would a dwarven merchant be doing at a diplomatic summit: selling snacks and souvenirs? Kal-Sharok has no good reason to be there, though I do hope we either get to go to or play a character from Kal-Sharok sometime because I too curious about what it is like there.

hah hah. I think as long as her squishy relatives are squishy other squishy things, Shale will be proud.
While I dislike the need for race-gates, I do think the backgrounds give potential to make the race-gating more interesting at least since LIs will at least be able to reject the Inquisitor based on their backgrounds (like if they don't like Cadash's criminal background regardless of Cadash's role in the Carta) and not just their race.
...and who knows, maybe with their connections to the Carta, Cadash will be able to find Bianca for Varric? And of course, she'll say she's not interested in him anymore and then he is free for the Inquisitor...
Anyways, I'm pretty confident we'll be able to roleplay our Cadash Inquisitors in a way that they were involved as little as possible in the Carta and always hated working with them. They started in the human background that Trevelyan doesn't necessarily have to like working with the Chantry so I can't see why it would be different for Cadash. In the casteless dwarf origin, they also gave you an option on your quests to defy Bhelen's orders and do things as nicely as possible, so far as that goes with thugs. The only thing they might possibly do that would worry me, is if they make it so every Cadash has participated in some particularly cruel or sadistic event, but I'm doubting this will be the case since I think our background is going to be a lot vaguer and give us more freedom than in Origins.
Edit: Someone remind me next time to stop writing such long posts. They always feel so short until I hit the post button.
