It's terrible for me to admit but I kind of gave up hope completely when we got that tweet from Solas's VA. I had a private moment of grief. I'm just annoyed right now that it was dragged out for this long. 

 

Anyway thanks to everyone who offered their sympathies to us, you've all been very sweet. At least we get our buddy back so we're luckier than most. 

 

EDIT: Also, is it brilliant or terrible that we got the "no" on page 666? I knew we should have prayed harder. 

 

I know right?....I said the same thing, it's a conspiracy I tell you! They totally planned it like this.

This sucks. Absolutely sucks.
Why couldn't they have says something a long time ago instead of dragging out our hope?! I think that sucks even more, especially as they know how big a fanbase Varric has wanting to romance him since DA2.
It's rather cruel to have dragged it out so long and to have it revealed like this.
So sad right now.
I'm going to go make cookies and drink midday cocktails to help me grieve.....

Same here Silkie, earlier today I had an intense feeling of "not gonna happen", I'm ok with that, but being strung along for absolutely no reason for so long is a tad out of order. How many times had that question been asked? How many times had it been dodged? And the teasing...I'm so utterly disappointed by it.

To be honest they have been hinting at him not being a LI for quite some time. Due to Bianca most likely being alive

And since they had a love story (he even called his crossbow like her) it was pretty obvious their story was not over

This is why I love the character threads, when one group is disappointed and sad that they never got the character romance or idea that they wanted, everyone just groups together to support each other.

I'm sure the other romance storylines will be written well enough it will soothe the pain, I'll enjoy getting to know the other characters, maybe I'll end up completely in love with someone else and someone unexpected, because I've never truly been disappointed with a bioware LI storyline I've run with, and if the dev's say there's a reason for no Varric, I believe them. It's just rather sad there'll be no sexy dwarf man to romance. Hopefully I can still flirt with him though, and he'll still be on my team, that's something!
At least now, after a bit of sad time, I can finally focus on getting excited about other parts of the game, which there is plenty to be excited about!
