I just heard the news and wanted to tell all the varricmancers how very sorry I am. Varric would have made a great romance but the writers have other plans for him.

We all knew that there was a very real risk that this would happen, and honestly it's ok. Bioware's characters and stories are so loved because they are good, not because they do exactly what the fanbase wants. So if they say no Varricmance, well that's just the way it is. We're sad now, but it will get better. Honestly, I'm more upset over how we were allowed to get our hopes up for so long. It would have been preferable if we got the same treatment that Cole, Leliana and Morrigan fans got, a clear NO from the beginning. 

 

The Varricmancers will survive, we'll mourn for a while but with your support I'm sure that we'll be back to our happy gif-partying ways in no time.

You know what?  It isn't over.  Varric isn't over, and I hope that no matter what happens to his character he's happy, and Bioware do him justice.  We're all depressed atm, but there's still mountains of stuff to look forward to.

If it's any consolation, there's at least one more character who is not going to be designated as a LI (Blackwall's my favourite but I'm not hopeful for his chances).
