And can I just say I'm so happy to see the support vastly outweigh any snide remarks or "I old ya so's", so thank you everyone. A special thank you to people who weren't Varric LI Hopefuls but still came in here to show their sympathies.

I'm still gonna pull through and get all this art done! I may be sad but I will use this sadness as artistic fuel! Because emotions and art...and stuff, right? And sad music will help. Maybe I shouldn't go overboard or I'll end up making the actual artwork sad.

My condolences every one.  Dwarves never seem to get much love in this series.  Although I am finding myself a little surprised at people saying they don't want to play DA:I anymore because of this news.  Let's put things into perspective!    Although....if Cassandra turns out to be race-gated...

 

Yeah, nevermind, I'll be right there with you in your unbridled rage if that happens. 

 

I can't offer you my empathy (yet), but know that you have my sympathy. 

 

Yeah, I don't think anyone's cancelling preorders over it. Just... not much enthusiasm at the moment.

I feel much better now seeing that I'm not alone in my disappointment, and moreso seeing all the lovely people comforting us diehard Varricmancers. Normally the Bioware fandom is pretty insufferable, but this may be the first time I've seen a general positive atmosphere on BSN. You people are awesome. Thank you.

I mostly lurked anyway, but I suppose now it'd be best to stay off of BSN until the game comes out, hah. I'm actually kind of excited to destroy Thedas; I've never done an evil playthrough in any Bioware game, should be interesting to change my canon.

Same here. The one major upside for me in Varric not being an LI is that he won't be able to hold me back from playing a really evil Inquisitor in the ways that Alistair kept my Warden's in line in Origins.

I actually came up with an idea for a crossover fanfic with my other favourite universe du jours i.e. Worm (seriously guys, if you haven't read it please go off and do so - best superhero story of all time).  Where Scion went to the DAverse roundabout the prologue of DA2 and power triggers happened there.  

 

And while I should be working on about twenty other things (my museum work, my other writing, etc.) if you guys want, I'll write it for you, and in honour of our dreams, I'll make it Varric/Hawke.  Twasn't my original intention, but I can see it working, and I think I need it now.

Ugh... people going and  giving the Varric fans a bad name... this was bound to happen.   I hope he knows that we, as some of his most dedicated fans, are of course upset but taking it very maturely and understandingly.

Good question.  No matter how disappointed or potentially heartbroken you are, nothing justifies being rude to David, or Mary, for that matter.
