We've built up quite the little community here, I hope it holds up in the months to come. There's still tons of Varric stuff to discuss.

I agree. I really enjoy everyone here.

I got to wondering if there would be an awkward moment again with Varric in DAI. Like the Quizzy tells him they are interested and Varric (depending if he has a high opinion of you or not) will gently let you down saying that you're a great person, just not the one for him.

It would be a nice nod to us Varricmancers none the less lol

Hmm. The fan feedback taken into account was likely the supporters. In that it was considered "ia this something we should do with varric?"

Unfortunately that is only a part of the equation. It seems unfair because people will think Cullen was made romanceable because of fan requests and whatnot, but I would downplay the effects of fan feedback in this regard.

 

We don't like it but we do understand that it wasn't the direction that you had for Varric and we appreciate that you stuck to your beliefs and the story arc for the character. I'm sure we're all glad that he's back for another game and that we get to find out more about him, so all has been forgiven and we realise that you cannot please everyone and that many would be disappointed no matter the outcome, and I'm sure the game will be amazing as always and we will all thoroughly enjoy it once it is released.

Joining the thread, if only to give my condolences to you Varricmancers out there. I wasn't pining for Varric, but I certainly wasn't glad to hear he was eliminated from the 4 LI contenders. (Also, probably would've loved to try out a romance with him. He's such a lovely character, it would've been a crime to 'not' try it out.)

It's hard to watch people eating pancakes when the cheesecake store just put up a 'Closed For The Rest of Time' sign, but hey, it's not the fault of the pancake fans. And if Bianca bought all the cheesecake forever, I guess those are the breaks.

 

I've waited patiently for fifteen years, I can wait another fifteen. (Meanwhile, there's some other cake over there that looks pretty good, and I hear there might be waffles, or maybe gelati. It's too early to say.)

I know this wasn't the point and this was totally a metaphor and everything but my stomach doesn't and is totally hankering for some cheesecake now. Its three in the morning so I'm disappointed I can't get any. In fact, there's this new cafe-ish type place close by our apartment and we recently went there with some friends and saw cheesecake on the menu (which you don't see much here) and all of use suddenly were craving some but apparently 8:00PM was too late in the evening for ordering cheesecake. Might have to see if there are open on sundays and drag my boyfriend down there...mmm...

Okay, so I just go internet in my house after possibly the worst day ever (flight delayed, no sleep, new apartment is dirty) and then got the message that Varric isn't romanceable....

Oh damn, that is pretty much one of the worst ways to get the news...I imagine over the next couple of days we'll have more people coming back from vacation to the bad news. That's just awful. I read the article, so I'm hoping that the implications mean that Varric will find some happiness, and that they aren't just making him all depressed and alone. Does anyone know if Rogue Inquisitors can use crossbows yet or are we still restricted to longbows and shortbows again?

I think that rogues are restricted to longbows, shortbows and single/dual wielding daggers. If it's so, then I'm guessing it's because the crossbow is a feature kind of individual to Varric.
(Also, regarding the crossbow - I think I read that, this time around, you're able to switch out Varric's crossbow. Well, until you equip him with Bianca. Then, switching will be disabled.)
