For right now I'm just happy that folks started talking about Varric as a LI again in the romance thread, at least for a bit.
Varric/Cole: Soul Brothers: A dwarf far from home. A lost spirit looking for answers.
That's the only one I could come up with for now.
You know, I kinda miss back when "Varric = Fabio" was a meme.

Which is why it drives me crazy when people assume only the frequent posters here (Myself, You, Chaos, Silkie , Kathea, Chernaya ,Clockwork etc) are the only ones who really care!

I think the DA team knows that a lot of the fans are around, just not posting on the BSN. They do link art from tumblr and such of other characters often, and I know DG has his blog on tumblr. It's a little sad that most of the folks on the BSN think that no one cares for a Varric LI.
Varric is awesome 
he and Isabela made DA2 for me they were my Hawke's Partners In Snark, and I loved it. I was really pleased when I heard he would be returning. I just think that because we know so much about him, a lot of my efforts have been in speculation about the new characters. Doesn't mean anyone's forgotten him though

I'm sure of it after some of the posts that seemed honestly surprised that anyone really cared about having a Varric romance anymore.
That's been the one upside to race-gating: My lists have included Varric as a dwarf-only straight romance. I'll keep swimming the Sea of Denial until his status is confirmed or denied. I know I'm thrilled to have him back either way, so no matter what happens, I'll happily take that.
Ah Varric my trusty dwarf, only you can make a story about chest hair riveting, disturbing yet riveting non the less.

I won't until either the devs tell me to give up or the game breaks my heart.
So I'll keep my candle lit as long as I can. Because Varric is worth it. He is my #1 favorite BioWare character. I've played all of the games except Jade Empire and the KoTOR series now. He stayed at #1, even during the ME series where he had some real competition outside of Shale.
Indeed a Varric romance would be most welcome.
Despite the lack of female playthroughs in my past i would be willing to make an exception for Varric, his standard arch was so enjoyable that i would find my self hard pressed to relinquish even a shred of content involving him.
However romance or not he will most likely be a permanent fixture in my Inquisitor's party, same as with Hawke in Dragon age 2.

I can't speak for others, but I can safely say the fanbase has dissipated a lot since DA2. I did mention that in the romance thread, and I don't know if you were referencing my post there, but people seem to be misinterpreting what I said a lot... My point is and was that it seems a few posts here and there from the devs have whittled down the fervor.

It's been 3 years, the Varric fans who were jumping for joy over him found other fandoms to keep themselves occupied until the next game. I'd say only a small percentage of fans visit the BSN, and an even smaller percentage than that visit it when it's a hotbead of spoilers like right now.

I'm excited for 9/9 of the characters we've been introduced to so I could understand the focus being shifted, but my point had been (and not in reference to yours but in general) , he is not forgotten

I wasn't hun, I was more speaking about some of the other posters that act really surprised that folks still considered him at all as a LI. You also weren't one of the posters that was shooting down the whole idea.

I was initially surprised that people weren't constantly harping the devs about it like they used to. I was sure they'd make him one in Inquisition (as they like to surprise their fans like that sometimes)... but now i'm not so sure.
After release, the DA2 forums quickly became no where near as popular as the ME3 forums.

I am pretty sure the reason why the thread is less active is due to some of the prominent occupants of the DA2 Varric threads have had lots of changes in their real lives and thus are unable to frequent the interwebs as much.
Notice how Aimo still posts Varric artwork yet rarely drops by BSN. You probably only see her around once in a while. She's currently got Fox & Willow to work on full-time.
Dave of Canada is my age and back during the early incarnations of the threads, we were still in school. Who knows what he's doing now. He might be busy working. (I have a job too but I am self-employed sooooo...)

Yeah, This! I mean, myself, I was not really active on any forums again till recently because I was full time teaching. Now it's summer break and I'll be on maternity leave so my time is completely free. So I will be crying this whole time here ;P
