It's like attacking the devs. It's one thing to criticize or voice your disappointment, but being rude, cruel and throw a hissy fit is just wrong. It's so incredibly stupid. At least our resident drunk knows what to do with these idiots:

Yeah, as much as we may not like it the devs are free to tell the stories they want to tell. We all knew it may come to this, and sure we're bummed right now. Some had high hopes, others had lower expectations or none at all. But come on, it doesn't matter how high your hopes were, you are not entitled to act like an *******, same goes for those who want to hate on the Varricmancers for "how obvious it was that he wasn't going to be a LI".
I've said it before, I think most of us (at least in this thread) are more upset over the fact that they waited this long to tell us. And I only get angry with those who act like douchebags. If you write hostile things to the devs, then you should be ashamed of yourself. If you hate on someone because they had hopes for a Varricmance, then you are just as cruel and shame on you!
We are all fans, and we should support each other. And so many people have come into this thread to do that, and I love them all for it! Because the good people are vastly outnumbering the haters. Just as it should be!

Ok but who the hell are the race gated romances now? Varric and Iron Bull seemed like the only two that made any sense to be. And both are not....
That's kind of one of my concerns right now. It would be fine if they had to decided to confirm the rest of the romances and race-gating when announcing Varric wasn't going to be an LI, but now people still have to worry about who will be the last two LIs and who are the two race gated romances. Varric was by far the most obvious to race gate (even if I had preferred he wasn't). Now who is? I'm hoping that the unannounced LIs are both bisexual and race-gated and in the case of Viv that makes sense but Solas doesn't seem to likely to be race-gated. I can understand arguments for Cullen or Sera to be race-gated but I really hope they do not race-gate one of the straight or gay romances. That would be awful.
I also love both Sigrun and Dagna. They're great. I hope even though she isn't an advisor that Dagna is at least somewhat significantly involved.
As much as I would like to see either of them return for the next game after Inquisition, though, I'd prefer they don't just to get the chance to see some new dwarf characters and not have to go through the agony again of waiting to see if the returning dwarf character is a romance. I really hope we'll have a new dwarf companion next time around, particularly a female one who is also an LI. Having both a male and a female dwarf companion who are both romancable would be even better, while I'm busy dreaming.
I'd love to see Sigrun again! She was my favorite companion in Awakening. At the very least I'd love to have another member of the Legion of the Dead party member in the future or...ooooh what if in the next game one of the dwarven backgrounds is a Legionnaire? Now that would be cool.

I've been hoping for a Silent Sister companion myself. Although I'm not sure how they'd pull that off what with the Silent Sisters being well...silent.
hah. That would be hard. They would have to make it so the PC was capable of signing but that would probably we hard to explain away for all the different race backgrounds.
So, just to get conversation going. Now that we know that Varric isn't an LI, who are you guys planning to romance ? I'm hoping for Blackwall, but it's not likely he'll be an LI. I suppose I can go with Dorian on my first playthrough. Assuming he's not gated to Dwarves.
For my first playthrough it is going to be either Sera or Josephine. Technically, I told myself if Varric wasn't a romance I would first play a female qunari who romances Josephine and then a female dwarf who romances Sera. It was the only way I could get myself to decide between a female qunari or a female dwarf for my first playthrough, but I don't really believe myself... I think I'm going to have to wait until I'm playing the game to decide between those two.
Dorian I also love but he'll have to wait for a hypothetical third playthrough that I'm afraid I won't get to. If I do, I'll romance him with a male elf mage. I don't have problems playing male characters, but I'm just way too excited about playing a female dwarf and a female qunari this time and well, my Hawke was male anyways.
Varric was my first choice, but I still have three characters I'm interested in almost as much as him is so ultimately I'm pretty lucky. Really, my main problem is since I like all three of my possibilities so much it makes it a hard to choose who to romance the first time around. Varric would have been an easy first choice as a returning character.

I have no idea, sometimes I forget how utterly detestable some people can be... DG was trolled yesterday on twitter and officialvarrictethras and fyeahvarric are getting the blame for it, they're handling it well but that's not the point, they shouldn't have to.
Well, I'm not a Varricmacer but I did have high hope for Tallis being a companion and LI, and finding out it wouldn't be so was a big disappointment so I get this was a huge disappointment for you guys. I'm really sorry you'r dream-romance didn't come true.
But lucky for us all there are still many cool characters left in the game that are LIs so it's not the end of the world.
