Same! and I love them in them in the comics as well. It was basically Varric and Bela's humor that got me through 2 without ripping all of my hair out. 

 

Now I feel like drawing them in an action movie poster pose. 

I know what you mean. Varric and Isabela were definitely refreshing considering everything else they put Hawke through and the level of messed up that was radiating off most everyone else in the game. 

 

But, I think it's safe to take side and say in here, I thought Varric specifically had the best jokes and the best friendship of any DA2 character. 

 

Although, what I really liked about Isabela was that, at the end, I felt like she was the only one that was better for our time together. I know what happened with the slaves, and it's awful, but she's the one character that I feel grew and became a truly better person. Everyone else, honestly it seemed like they stayed the same or even degenerated into their odd obsessions even farther by the end of the game. Varric gets off with this, because he was the only one that seemed consistently sane and largely without major personality flaws through the whole game. lol

Yes! Well it's totally a given that Varric had the best friendship ( ), but whenever I see Bela hate I try to talk about her character growth and nobody wants to listen. I loved the inner conflict about selflessness/loyalty she had and overcoming it if you were a true friend to her, it was so sweet. As someone who regularly romanced her as well I can say her friendship path isn't any less awesome, which makes me happy.

 

Plus, they were the best people to bring along if I ever felt like tormenting Sebastian.

I agree about Sebastian, but I have to say I also love Anders's line about his Andraste armor. It's one of the few times the witty Anders still shines through in DA2, so I gotta love it. lol

woo congrats! I loooove that feeling. I remember one time I thought I totally BS'd a 13 page research paper, and when I looked up my grade it was 100. I just sat there in disbelief for like 20 minutes.

Treating Varric as our patron saint makes as much sense as anything we do in here. Plus, we all know Varric bows to the most powerful god in Thedas - the narrative.

I haven't posted much in this thread compared to some of you, but I've been lurking about the place on and off since the beginning, and I just wanted to thank everyone for making it such a lovely thread. I find this both strangely hypnotic and also somewhat reflective of my current forum ennui.  There's just... not a lot of interesting going on right now.  It's all people spinning in circles about the current romance reveals or lack of such.  I feel like we all need a good trailer, or VA reveal, or something.
