Hey all - I just wanted to drop into the thread and say 'goodbye for now' before I go on blackout. I haven't posted much in this thread compared to some of you, but I've been lurking about the place on and off since the beginning, and I just wanted to thank everyone for making it such a lovely thread. (And especially for all the hugging and crying and emotionally supportive gifs.)

 

I'll be back after I've played DAI for the first time, and I can't wait to see what our favourite dwarf companion has in store for us in eighty days time.

I feel bad for the Solassians.

I had to leave that thread. It's depressing cuz it used to be one of the nicest/most welcoming. And now it's just sad and angry and all the cool lgbt people have left since he's straight. At least the Varric thread is still nice and welcoming! I haven't posted, but i lurk a bit.

You're always welcome here! And I do hope the Solas thread get back to normal soon, I loved that thread. So warm and fuzzy!

I like it over here because it just got kind of draining hearing about how "awesome" people reasoned his plot must be, since he's super restricted and "special". I don't want the Solas thread to feel like they can't be happy and express it, but for me right now it's kind of twisting the knife, everything considered. The Varric thread has always been on the same terms of welcoming and friendly, and I did always love my BFF Varric in DA2. It's just easier being with people that can understand and relate to the let down of getting shut out of the romance you wanted, I guess. 

 

But I still think Solas is interesting and hopefully I'll be able to post there more again once the wounds are less fresh.

It's a difficult situation isn't it? I want to be happy for the Solassians (and trust me, I am) and I do wish Solas' romance arc to be brilliant. On the other hand, it sucks that he's so gated. I guess I'm ok with elf only (esp if there's a good reason behind it), but I'm crushed that he's straight. It's so sad, and I feel for all of you who wanted to romance him with a male. 

 

At this point, I almost don't care who the last LI is, because no matter what someone will be sad. I just hope that when the game comes out, everyone will find someone to love. It doesn't solve the equality issue, but at least it would take some of the hurt away!

I know how you feel. Regardless who would get the slots, I just wanted the distribution to be equal. I would have been happy no matter, whether it was Solas/Varric/Blackwall for males and Vivienne for the female. I just really wanted two bisexual options to even things up. It's really hard to come to terms with the fact that it's not happening. I know it was never certain, but I'd convinced myself that it would happen. Which was stupid, I know. I feel more stupid because I stuck with Solas over the others for LI largely because I thought he was our best bet to get that equal distribution. Now the options are either getting the least amount of options after getting the least amount across all games, or two demographics are left with less instead. There's no winning option now.

 

I just hope that the straight characters aren't also the most important ones again. I don't want them to be bad, just not the most plot important characters, like it tends to go. I'd be happy if the "main" plot characters were non-LIs, honestly. Varric and Cole, ftw.

The more the merrier and I hope the Solas thread gets back to normal soon, it was one of my favourite threads.

I've always felt like this thread was very welcoming and even more so after our sad news we've seemed to all become closer and more empathetic towards others, our arms are certainly open to everyone, whether they've also had to deal with disappointment on the LI spectrum or not. True to Varric, no matter your disposition we will just crack a joke and carry on.  Power of the chest hair and chest friends forever. I'm sure the Solas thread will be back to true form soon, I think perhaps the news hit some people harder than him not being an LI at all would have, and I can respect that as long as they aren't jerks to others because of it... sometimes we all need a little time to heal. I'm sure most of us here know that well.

Indeed it is. Probably one of my favorite characters in gaming history. Incredibly flawed, but a good character.

I liked him, too. His character development was really interesting, you described it pretty much perfect.  I've liked a lot of characters in that game. ...Most of them have died, but that's okay! *stifles sobbing* I just finished the 2nd season a few nights ago actually.

Depends how close quarters the fight is and how strong Varrics arrows hit. Oghren could definitely take more of a beating than Varric. But Varric can shoot faster then Oghren can swing his axe.

I think Oghren is stronger, but Varric is more clever... so it depends. Plus Bianca is nothing to mess with.

Luke should have been determinant rather than always dieing, I really didn't like that. It should have been Kenny Vs Luke at the end in my opinion

I agree... although that would have made the final decision very difficult for me. :x I kinda wish Bonnie would have died in Luke's place, since she was such a huge jerk to me after all of that for no reason. oh I'm sorry, my friend just died too, thanks for the sympathy, its appreciated.  I love Clem, but the restrictions of playing as a little girl were frustrating sometimes lol. I would have loved a bitchslap option.

I chose him, too. I liked Jane, but to be honest they were both unstable and damaged people, and Kenny was someone I knew and trusted even though he was obviously having issues. I felt sorry for him more than anything. Plus what Jane did was insane and asking for **** to happen, which was not cool. She told me not to interfere so I didn't. She got what she asked for. x_x  I played Clem as a sort of hardened youth like how Carl becomes in the comics, so I made some decisions a lot of others apparently didn't when looking at the comparisons at the end lol, such as leaving Sarah behind at the house.
