THIS. Nat, you are so on point with your comments that I sometimes catch myself nodding along while I read them. You know in that "You tell em gurl" kind of way XD. I've said this before and I'll say it again, Bianca being available for Varric is not a certainty. Just because someone wants them back together doesn't mean it's 100% going to happen. The same way me hoping he's an LI doesn't make it so simply because it's something that I'd like to see happen. It's all theory at the moment. I know it sounds ridiculous that I have to say this but I can't count the number of times I've read things like this;
"he can't be a romance because of Bianca"
and more comments of this nature. There's this attitude that Bianca is absolutely getting back together with Varric, no if ands or buts about it. Here's the thing, no one knows how the Bianca plot will conclude. Maybe there is a happy reunion! And that's fine! But, it's also possible that Bioware won't go that route. 10 years (wait isn't it more?) is a looooong time. It's possible Bianca could have found someone else during that time or has a new life with a family now *shrug*.
Maybe, just maybe Varric's storyline is actually about letting go. It would make sense. He hates being outside his comfort zone (doesn't like change) this was highlighted in a recent interview. He has a reluctance that he might have to overcome in order for his character to develop and grow. Maybe Bianca is actually part of that process. Maybe he needs to see her again so that he can accept things have changed. Maybe she's happy and has no ill feelings towards him anymore. Maybe all he needs is her forgiveness for not going with her and letting her down all those years ago. Maybe it's closure that Varric craves most of all. He spends all his time re-telling stories of others so maybe his arc will be about starting a new chapter for himself instead of clinging on to what's old and familiar (Bianca, Kirkwall etc).
The point is I'm prepared for his story arc to go in a number of directions (that goes for his romance status also) , I can't say the same for some other posters. And I worry how they will react if Varric doesn't get back together with Bianca even if they DO see each other again.
One word , Garrus. As you can see ,he's still very much the "Bro" of Mass Effect despite his awkdorkable romance with Shepard.
I'm not really expecting him to end up with a Disney princess ending like the people you mentioned. It'd be too sappy and cliche' and given DAI's setting they seem to be wanting to show a more broken side to Varric. I'm thinking it'll go more the route of Alistair and Goldanna unfortunately. Your excited for him to finally see his sister again and think they'll be so happy together....then you meet her and *BAM* total heartbreak. ugh, I still hate her for doing that to poor Alistair.
Varric's love for Bianca has been too-much of a center point for his character and I just know it's going to end tragically.

Friendships growing so strong they become something even more is just a really beautiful thing imo, as well. People talk about 'friend zone' and it makes me laugh usually. And it's quite true, I've quickly lost relationships where we jumped in too fast and didn't get to be good friends first. A best friend though, I've never lost one of those. I would never let myself lose a best friend, because with best friends you've been through thick and thin, and that's why they make the best partners!
