Thanks! I still love Cullen and he'll still be my canon romance but I was hoping my canon Quizzy could be a dwarf this time. Up till this point I've been known to make humans my canon playthroughs and I was hoping to go out of my comfort zone a bit with this game. But that's okay, I'm just super happy I even have the chance to romance Cullen after waiting all these years! Because from the looks of that list Laidlaw posted, he was almost not even a LI.

 

 

I've bailed out of the actual announcement thread now, things are starting to go off.  I'll be so sad if all this malarky makes BW drop the whole romance thing...

 

Aww, I hope not cuz I really enjoy the romance content! Man, do I love Mr. Laidlaw for finally getting this info out to us though. It's been really tough on alot of people to wait so long, I know it was difficult for me waiting for Varric's announcement. It's a shame it didn't come before people had a chance to form an attachment to these great characters. It wouldn't stop people from hurting but it might've helped a little... Hopefully, they'll try to handle these announcements a little better with the next game.

Either! Anything is better than the PR disaster that was the LI reveals this time around.

Ehh, why not surprise us and let us discover the LIs next time, it can be part of the RPG experience and a bit of a shock, especially if you like the character. Or even better let us control the marketing team.

Hmm, good question. I think it would be nice if they told us who was romanceable the same time they reveal who the companions are.

People elsewhere have gotten terribly toxic about the romances again now, haven't they?  So unfortunate.  You'd think it'd be an end to it.

This will be the first Bioware game I play that I'll know the companions/romances ahead of time. I love leaving that sort of thing a surprise and if I could go back to the beginning of all this, I would've stopped myself from spoiling that aspect. But there are alot of people who like to plan their playthroughs and know who they're going to romance before they play the game. So, for that reason, I don't think Bioware should keep it a surprise till the game releases. I just want them to handle the reveals a little better in the future.

Ah man, yeah, no. There will be so much badgering regardless. But maybe less so if they say, "hey guys, we're not telling you. we're just not!"

 

And I think I would lean toward that. Don't tell us, let us discover it. I mean I'll still get my hopes up (especially for a dwarf LI) but yeah.

I'm sorry.   I thought of you when I logged in and saw it. You and a couple others I've enjoyed talking to on here specifically came to mind. I mean, I knew we were going to be facing disappointment, it was inevitable. But that doesn't make it any better when it arrives...

I'm undecided if it would be better to reveal them or leave it till the game.  The former stops people from being really disappointed in the game when they find the person they'd built up their hopes on is unavailable to them; the latter makes discovering the romances part of the game and keeps them a mystery, like real life!

 

It's all too tense, Ajna!  Too much friction!

 

 

 

Now... games?  I've recently finished the Tomb Raider reboot (awesome), Bioshock Infinite (the only game that can make a Beach Boys song sound creepy)... and Thomas Was Alone.  I have a big load of Skyrim left to do (196 hours and only done about a third of the actual plot with and both of the DLCs still to do!) and most of Assassin's Creed 3 to complete also.

unfortunately, some people will see it that way -- whomever ends up getting the most attention is now a point of attack. Luckily, most people understand it's not the people who fit into that particular groups fault -- Bioware chose to make it unequal. Is that fair? Is it not? It's not my game, but there are varying opinions all over the place around here and I'm not going to try to discount anyone's feelings on the matter. Personally, I wish it ended up more equal, I really do.

Geez, I feel so bad for the Devs right now. I know people are upset and angry but they need to chill! Attacking another human being over the internet is not okay! Tweeting/pming the devs hateful messages is not okay! *sigh* It's okay to let out your frustration but that's not the way to go about it.
