 Also, come to think of it, that's how I've finally made my peace with Varric not being available for romance.  He really reminds me of Tyrion.  

 

I like the character too much to compare him to the Imp.

Indeed I can see Varric becoming like Tyrion, although they have led quite different lives Varric does seem to be starting to take a darker path. Not that it's a completely bad thing, life in Thedas isn't sunshine so it happens. I'm just glad that perhaps our friendship will deter him from going too far that way. I expect a bit more pragmatic and cynical guy, but hopefully not emotionally tortured or anything.

I mean he isn't as bad as Danny, don't get me wrong but the Imp is...well Evil is tossed around too much, even in ASOIAF to mean much.

He is pretty messed up and crazy, but he has his reasons growing up a joke to his own father who hated him, so yeah. :c

 

I could explain to you why i view that as wrong, but it would likely take quite a long post to do it, but i will have no fear of that!

The Mountain that rides was Westeros's ultimate undisputed bad ass for nearly two decades, you don't get that title without being a horrible person.

 

He killed scores of people, because he was ordered to, because he enjoyed it and because he could, he defeated knights, nobles, lords and peasants alike, he fought against seasoned warriors, mercenaries and farmhands.

 

And he beat them all.

Dude, Loras Tyrell beat the Mountain. He may have cheated, but that just show you how stupid the Mountain are. He picked a horse because it was a big and intimidating, completely ignoring the risk of someone manipulating the horse. And that pretty much tell you all you need to know about the big bad Mountain.

I never mind an explanation, but I don't want to go too far OT.  I forget and do that sometimes. And then post Varric pictures/gifs to the ends of my posts because I feel guilty. 

 

I mean I guess I just see the word "badass" as a positive adjective even though it's made up of two negative ones, so I would never personally describe him as one, but yes he was very intimidating and good at what... he did. Which was be mean and evil. XD

You can definitely see a huge difference in them - while both are considered scary and 'mean' people, Sandor has a capacity for empathy which his brother completely lacked. Sandor is by no means a hero though, he has also done horrible things such as kill innocents simply because he was ordered too, but he also has character development after hitting his crisis point and leaving his past behind him, and I also think Arya (and maybe Sansa as he seemed to like her and want to protect her) helped bring his more human side out as well. Plus he's hilarious. EVERY ****** CHICKEN! XD

Exactly! IMHO, Sandor and Bronn get the best lines in the show. They're hilarious xD too bad they messed up Stannis, he's got some good ones too in the books.

Well alright i will keep it brief then, i once did a thirty two paragraph explanation of why Tywin was probably the best Lord in Westeros and i included his relationship with his children in that.

Anyway to get to the point: Tywin only ever cared about his family, its reputation, position, standing and means. That decided his every action from when he was but a teenager, until his death. He wanted to ensure his house's wealth, its strength, etc. To do that he often had to do horrible things, The Reynes of Castamere and Tarbeck learned just what he would do for his family.

 

To his relationship with his children though? He raised Jamie to be lord of the greatest of the old houses, he raised his daughter to be a princess, a queen and he raised Tyrion because he loved his wife, and he was a Lannister. Think about that for a moment, every day he was with the Imp, was a reminder of what he had stolen from him before he was even born, According to Kevan Lannister? His wife was about the only person he honest to goodness cared about, and losing her broke that bit of him, but he still raised Tyrion, he still kept him connected to the coffers, he had him instructed, taught, and Tyrion became who he was because Tywin allowed it.

 

That's often forgotten, Tywin never cut Tyrion off, all the money he spent on whores, alcohol and alike over the years? It came from his father, he allowed Tyrion his willful years, because it was his son, he even didn't push marriage on Tyrion until it became too compelling not to do so, And in doing so he gave Tyrion yet another gift, another of the great houses, He entrusted Tyrion with the rule of King's Landing as hand while he was occupied fighting the traitorous notherners, He granted him a seat on the small council as a reward, ultimately if you look objectively at Tywin?

 

He was fair with Tyrion until he could no longer be fair with him, his words were barbed, but those were but words, He never was warm with any of his children, Tyrion was going to be allowed to take the black for regicide, any other man, noble or no would have been killed, executed, but Tywin was going to allow it, He was harsh man but he only ever wanted what was best for them.

 

That is further expanded upon in the "dream of Tywin" which was featured in a feast of crows.

 

I wouldn't say he was a good man, but he was a good father, he was firm, harsh even when he needed to be but he only ever cared about them. "Tywin dreamed of a world where his children were so perfect, so powerful and wealthy that no one would ever dare laugh at them."

 

Because that was what he grew up with, under his own father the Lannister name meant nothing, the wealth of Casterly meant nothing, the House meant nothing, he spent his life trying to fix that.

Yeah  Andraste (badb) is an interesting goddess of Battle, the moon and divination(foresight/seeing the future) and some say magic and is often linked  with Morrigan(Death, Extreme war, deception, magic-everyone hates but loves her) and Fea(in-between the two) as a triple sister goddess representing the endless cycle of life, death and rebirth.-sorry if I went a bit Myth nut on you.

 

@ Cher I like Tyrion,  I think he's awesome and wouldn't mind a more edgier Varric, also Arya and Sandor are an amazing team. The Mountain on the other hand terrifies me. Bronn causes me to chuckle when he comes on screen, because he just doesn't care as long as he's getting paid or something, he's good.

As for Tywin being a good father: You keep telling yourself that! I would consider a good father to be someone who doesn't screw the kids up so bad that they become self hating drunks, self hating incestuous drunks or self hating incestuous knights. But maybe I'm just weird like that.

That's alright! I love learning about this stuff. I used to geek out on greek, roman and egyptian myths all the time as a kid. But for some reason I never learned about Celtic mythology.

Cersei's only redemption is her love for her children. Not Jaime. She's incredibly selfish in her love for him, she sleeps around with everything that moves and doesn't care at all about Jaime's feelings. She keep blaming him for things he couldn't help and keep using him for her own needs.

Jaime not giving a **** about her letter was one of his best moment so far. I love Jaime for realizing how toxic that relationship was. He's come too far to let her ruin him now.
