I'd say it's likely, but I wouldn't jump to one being related to the other.  This is BioWare we're talking about here.

They are having quite a serious debate on trans romance in there. There's nothing I could post to add to it, so I've just been reading. It's actually pretty interesting and even helpful to understand the topic more, but there seems to be lots of tension so I'm not touching it...

Dunno, I saw it as them going "can't talk Viv yet, so here, have Solas instead". But who knows, might be because he is a LI. Though they haven't announced Dorian's VA yet.

I'm still not disheartened to day. For some reason I feel positive about Varric being an LI today when  yesterday I kinda got mopey with doubt.

A little iffy, to be honest.  The actor that played Solas played a bisexual man, and they announced it at GaymerX.  Unless they make Vivienne not available, it's looking a little grim.  However, we haven't heard a no from the devs yet, so we're still in the running.

Ah, yeah, that makes a difference. I was wondering if Solas was bi since they brought him up at GaymerX, but if it was just a random tweet it probably doesn't mean much.

Kinda doubt the actor's past work matters much. Announcing it now... well, yeah, that's a bigger deal.

Hmmm... positive but fearful. I have a tendency to get my hopes dashed . The VA announcement for Solas actually makes me think he won't be a romance, not sure why (maybe because they avoided presenting Vivienne's?) If Vivienne is a romance, which they would probably announce tomorrow (explain why her VA wasn't announced today) then it lends more reason for Solas not to be.

 

However, I'm still not convinced Vivienne is a romance, which would mean Solas probably is? IDK there's too many possibilities...

 

Tomorrow... I just need to hold out until the romance talk tomorrow... then we may know more...

Same as before, he has a chance. Honestly, if the voice actor were an indication of LI status, then we should have had the Varricmance in DA2. Even though the timing is pretty convenient for the Solas...
