Hmmm I'm trying to think, while he definitely only has a history with women (just one in particular) I don't remember him talking about women in general the way Anders did DA:A (correct me if I'm wrong about this). He'll jokingly flirt with either Hawke, though it is of course all in good fun and not serious. He definitely never outright states he's not into men (I don't think), his excuse for not wanting Hawke is that he isn't into humans in general. 

 

Correct me if I'm wrong about any of this, but it seems as though Bioware has stood on far shakier ground when making a character bi before. Given their track record it's perfectly plausible that Varric could be a bi love interest in DA:I. Though I can understand only feeling right about romancing him with a particular gender. 

 

Either way, people who might be made uncomfortable by the thought of him hitting on a certain gender (except in a joking manner) need not worry. I'm pretty sure he'll be making Inquisitor's of any gender/race jump through hoops before they'll be able to gain access to any sort of "romantic content" from him. This guy's really good at keep his feelings bottled up. 

God, I know it's out of the question but Varric would make the perfect romance DLC to satisfy all those Dwarf and Qunari [straight] women who felt short-changed by the race-gating. I mean sure, you could give him to Humans and Elves too, but since they got Cullen (and he mentions he's not into humans, although I'm sure a lady Inquisitor could make him see the error of his judgement ), this would even things out a bit. If.. err.. you totally ignore the fact that it's adding another straight female romance.. heh.

 

Still, it would be glorious, really. And now I'll shut up and stop breaking people's hearts.

Just wanted to toss you guys some love.  I know I haven't been around much, but I've been largely avoiding the DA threads to dodge spoilers.

 

I know Hagrid is a half-giant and not a dwarf, but somehow I can picture Varric getting really hammered and dressing like this.
