Nah, Varric did it. He is a returning character who is more bitter than the first game he was in, just like Anders.

Well. We have speculated that he may be possessed by a desire demon...

Probably, that's really all I wanted to do :D...well just sass her really..

I'm willing to go further than that. I like me some tragedy and I would like it if Cassandra made a mistake with disastrous results. Like lots of people get killed or something like that.

If she did what she felt was right but it ends up in disaster she would start to question her philosophy. My Inquisitor is going to argue with her a lot. :D

Again, what would Josephine do?

The only time she treated him bad was when he tried being a wise guy. I love Varric but when I see that scene I'm like "Yeah, he deserved that."
We already know he doesn't have a positive relationship with Bull because he is a Qunari.

I don't think saying 'Which one' makes him deserving that treatment.
Not having a positive relationship doesn't mean much. I want to see what he says.

She would let me play the game the way I want to. Because it's just a game.

Wow. I really like this idea. I mean, she's pissed at Anders of course like everyone else for valid reasons. But what happens if she does something which gets the same results (aka lots of innocents killed) by her own decision and fault? Because she did something based on her own personal agenda that she felt was right? That would add a whole extra layer onto her character development and cause some internal struggle. ...What can I say, I'm a fan of tragedy. XD

I don't see the problem in him being bitter. Being forced to go to Haven when Mages and templars are reunited and Not in a good relationship isn't my idea of nice trip.

TBH, I have a feeling that if Cassandra had calmed down and approached Varric in a more peaceful manner he would have told her everything anyway. He doesn't respond well to violence and threats, better to buy him a drink and treat him with a bit more respect. Can't blame the guy for not liking her. She made a bad first impression.

He got kidnapped, roughed up, threatened, forcibly held and interrogated, nearly stabbed in the nether regions and had a dagger held to his throat.

God forbid he gets sassy with his captor. Because sass is worse than all of the things listed above

Sorry (not sorry), I'm 100% with Varric.

Exactly. This is pretty much a canon quirk for Varric. Varric was rivals with aggressive Hawke. Varric doesn't like aggressive paths. So to me, him being bitter towards her makes perfect sense.

And dragged halfway across the continent to Haven against his will, that's like..the icing on the cake!

Not to mention getting caught up in even more crazy conflicts! The only reason why he dealt with the qunari and mage/templar madness of Kirkwall was because Hawke was his best friend and his loyalty to Hawke was more important than keeping out of conflict. But this time he's all alone with people he don't know, being forced into it by a person whom he doesn't get along with. Poor Varric, no wonder he's a bit bitter.

He usually tries to bullshit his way out of the situation first. I always saw him as a guy who isn't afraid to use violence, but prefers to solve things in a more civilized and peaceful manner. There are exceptions of course, like the blood mage who's an accomplice to Leandra's murder. But most of the times when you get a prompt to ask Varric to solve a situation, he resolves it by talking.

Yeah, saying things such as "Don't you know who this is?" and putting you in the position of someone who threatens the person we are talking to, like a Knight Commander/First Enchanter or a Tevinter.

I never really saw that as a threat. It was about faking authority, and that's different. If your Hawke then decides to threaten them, that's not on Varric now is it? And if Varric gets his way, everyone get to live another day. That's a good thing.

I don't like the idea of taking Cass down a notch. She's just doing what she feels is right. Varric's bitterness isn't unjustified but I don't think Cass wanted it to go that way nor do I feel she is the sole cause of it. If anything, I'd like Cass and Varric to understand each other better.

When he did that?
