For the most part the companions always defer to Hawke. Hakwe lets someone go, the companions let them go. Hawke is about to execute someone, the companions don't try to stop Hawke. And so on. And you know what - it's likely that Cassandra and all of the other Inquisition companions will be the same way. If Varric can be blamed for letting x person go, so can just about every other companion.

However I do wonder why you would come into a thread for a character you appear to dislike, and I apologize if I'm wrong, try to antagonize the fans of said character.

I liked that bit of banter between Cass and Varric. I admit at the end of DA2, I thought they parted on good terms. It surprised me to hear Varric's resentful tone.

They didn't really part. She dragged Varric to Haven to bring him before the Divine to tell the story...again. I doubt Varric was at any point actually free to go.

Not necessarily Cassandra and Varric, but I actually hope there is a relationship(s) in DA:I that started on neutral/good terms but gets worse as the game goes on. It is a bit too expected and dull for everyone to get along by the end.

I maintain the sad thought that Varric won't be friends with the Inquisitor. I have nothing to confirm it but my own sobbing.

Don't worry, there's Sera/Cole, Sera/Vivienne and Vivienne/Cole that won't definitely get along. And on the last one I'm sure it won't be fixed.

I'd like this too. It'd be interesting to see two characters start off as friends and just end up really disliking one another by the end. 

 

Actually I'm kind of happy that Varric's got some issues with Cassandra. Don't get me wrong, I like her, but in DA2 Varric got along with everyone. One of the things I'm most looking forward about Varric in Inquisition is seeing him not get along with people. Is that weird?

Not at all. It's another side to Varric that we haven't really seen much. In DA2 for the most part, the only person he was shown to consistently dislike was Bartrand.
