We haven't even heard/seen Varric's interactions with other ppl he likes, jfc. It's been already stated he doesn't like Cass and IB much due to reasons and you people are surprised?
Pls!
No, we aren't surprised? What makes you think that? xD I would have been very surprised if he and Cass are BFFs and braid each others hair every morning.

Oh I'm not surprised. I've been expecting him to be very passive aggressive towards Cassandra since the beginning.
Actually I have a theory that he might be bothered by Cole as well do him being a demon and Varric's encounters with Justice/Vengeance.

Cassandra has to pray to the Maker every morning to resist jumping the Dwarf right in the Inquisitor's throne room.
They didn't really part. She dragged Varric to Haven to bring him before the Divine to tell the story...again. I doubt Varric was at any point actually free to go.
Now I can just reinterpret DA2 ending:
Leliana: "It is in the Maker's hands now. We put our faith in him."
<Cassandra walks resolutely out of Kirkwall>
Leliana: *Oooh pretty book!*
Cassandra: "DAMN IT WE FORGOT THE DWARF!"
Spoiler
I guess it's because he was forced to go to Haven.
Anyway, I hope they'll have a better relationship at the end.
I hope so too. Though it could be an interesting arc if he opposes Cassandra. He was definetly a mediator in the group in DA2, that doesn't mean he didn't voice his dislike of some people (Sebastian namely) so he won't be all smooth and laidback.

Because everybody can picture Leliana saying:
"Ooh pretty <insert word>!"
Shoes!
Hair!
Birdies!
Chains!
Which makes me think, Cassandra actually says (just checked):
"Then you're free to go Varric. May the Maker watch over your chest hair you during the dark times ahead of us."
So something definitely happened because at one point, Cassandra thought the book was enough proof to bring back to the Divine.
Desperately hope to see flashes of the "oh pretty" side of Leliana in Inquisition. My Warden everything he could to keep his lady happy and not hardened after all!
Hi Varric thread! Just popping in to say that at first I was just glad that Varric returns in Inquisition, but I was more enthralled by the new characters. It was like: "Ah, cool, Varric is back *catches a glimpse of Solas* Oooohhh shiny!"
But now when I'm replaying DA2... man, I'm just looking forward more and more to having him on the team in Inquisition. He's a wonderful character, and I'm so glad that he's back.

Mmmh, Leliana always had a hard edge to her even if not hardened. Given the events in Inquisition I'm not too surprised she seems more "grim".
From the twitter thread: MOAR BIANCA ACTION! And more banter!
New banter from the new vid:
Cassandra: "I hear reconstruction is progressing well in Kirkwall."
Varric: "I know things are bad there."
Cassandra: "I wasn't trying to..."
Varric: "You weren't trying to remind me how bad it is in Kirkwall? So you decided to talk about it?"
Cassandra: "About its recovery!"
Varric: "What you're talking about are the buildings, and even that will takes years. People don't recover so easily."
