So we're not afraid to debate of course, and it's a given since this is his thread, here is where you'll find his most hardcore fans on the BSN - So indeed we probably will become defensive over him. Not in a mean way though, he's just a character we really love. It happens. We never mean any ill will. Today it got more tense than well... ever before really, but in the end we still welcome everyone, the past is the past. Just trying to explain the side from the regular's POV. 
heavy debate can be fun, but since you were outnumbered you may have felt like you were being treated unfairly, I can understand, but it wasn't meant to be that way I assure you. Everyone in this thread is lovely. (but we can bite. but you know, playful bite)

I still don't think we can judge Varric's demeanor the entire game, with everyone, off of his interactions with the woman who almost stabbed him in the nuts.
Yeah, for all we know the reason he isn't a love interest is because he's got a huge crush on Cass and will settle down with her unless your Inquisitor romance her first. He'll get over it, they won't turn Varric into Anders 2.0.

I would guess that what we saw was pretty early on in the game. The scars are pretty recent, but give them time and maybe they end up really good friends. Isabela and Aveline disliked each other in act 1 but was good friends in act 3. It's too early to draw any conclusions.

People are not rational when under the influence of strong emotions. I'm willing to cut him a break. He's using Cass to vent his frustrations and I think she's strong enough to take it.
That's a plus for Cass: she's a tough cookie. A delicious, crumbly tooth-breaking cookie.

The impending conflicts between Varric and Cassandra are why I'm using them both in my first party. I mean COME. ON. They will be the new Alistair and Morrigan. Sort of.
That and Cass is a symbol of things he flaunts and operates outside of.
He's a criminal and she's a symbol of governance and order.

True enough. As we've seen in past games, getting yelled at for things that weren't your fault pretty much comes with being a member of the Chantry.
