Mmmh, Leliana always had a hard edge to her even if not hardened. Given the events in Inquisition I'm not too surprised she seems more "grim".

New banter from the new vid:

Cassandra: "I hear reconstruction is progressing well in Kirkwall."

Varric: "I know things are bad there."

Cassandra: "I wasn't trying to..."

Varric: "You weren't trying to remind me how bad it is in Kirkwall? So you decided to talk about it?"

Cassandra: "About its recovery!"

Varric: "What you're talking about are the buildings, and even that will takes years. People don't recover so easily."

Varric has become bitter indeed, thats him being a bit of a jerk. He should be well aware Cass was trying to be nice and he spat back at her.

Well, it sure looks like Varric and Cass won't be getting along.

True enough. As we've seen in past games, getting yelled at for things that weren't your fault pretty much comes with being a member of the Chantry.

Do you think Iron Bull will rethink his position on using Varric to cause mayhem when he sees Varric jump around?

Obviously! But I guess if Varric's that good at jumping with his stocky build, then I can only imagine how good Sera is.

As for people in the Chantry getting the blame for things out of their control: I think that's common when you work for a large organization, especially if you take a vocal stand for your employer.

Never thought I'd say this but Varric with attiude is even more awesome than normal Varric.

People are people, I guess; they act without thinking sometimes. He probably buys her a drink later to make up for it.

Cass drinks?

Yeah but I'd still would like to see that happy side. Even people in the grimmest of circumstances can smile.

Hopefully Varric will have some snappy sass for Cass.

We'll see how the game progresses. It'd be interesting to see if Varric stops being so bitter towards Cass after more talks or chats with the Inquisitor.

I think my Dalish Inquisitor will be a bit like Leliana...only without the devout Andrastianism...

Cass drinks?

Why shouldn't she?  Besides, he can buy her any drink she asks for, it doesn't have to be an alcoholic one.

(arg stupid thing)

The bitterness won't last for the whole game, I'm sure.

The impending conflicts between Varric and Cassandra are why I'm using them both in my first party. I mean COME. ON. They will be the new Alistair and Morrigan. Sort of.

I kinda hope not.  I'd like to think Cass and Varric can kinda get along with each other by the end.  Alistair and Morrigan despised each other til the end.  Not Anders and Fenris's 'I'd kill you if I could' relationship, but still a lot of dislike there.

If only to hear what that accent sounds like when slurred!

Anders and Fenris were fine for a bit but my god did it get grating.

I wanted to smack them for jumping on -everyone- with it. Especially poor Merrill.

Well, lets be fair to Varric. Being interrogated, while no doubt fearing torture, does not make one close to someone. And Cass isn't apologetic about her rough actions. Though its nice to see Cass is going to be the hardass we all know and love.

Makes sense when you think about it. He was always among friends in Kirkwall, and seeing as this presumably takes place early in the game he's probably not used to that not being the case.

I'd be in a bad mood too.

Oh I'm not saying he doesn't have the right to be pissy but come on man. We're trying to fix the world, bury the hatchet at some point.

And not in each other, I need Cass to tank for my squishy bum.

I kinda meant the relationships each character had with each other.  Alistair and Morrigan didn't like each other as Morrigan basically poked at each of his weak points and insecurities.  Anders and Fenris had a relationship where one would smile as another got enslaved to be used and raped.

Oh ****, forgot about that little detail...

I sincerely doubt we'll have any relationships at that level in Inquisition. Maybe Cole/Sera but not Varric/Cassandra.

Varric isn't a bad guy... Liar, sure. Criminaln definitely and probably technically a murderer but he isn't like that. At least I don't think he is.

Its never even inferred the Ferris was sexually assaulted as a slave. He was used like a Golem, a living weapon, but thats it. Fenris just got tired of mindlessly killing people at his masters command.

Plus, Fenris is plenty happy to see mages locked up in a prison so yeah, Anders is going to hate him quite strong.

That said, I thought it was interesting to have two companions that quite strongly hate each other.

I heard it both ways. Honestly, I wouldn't know. I never liked Fenris or did his missions cause I'm a loser who doesn't like getting told I'm evil constantly.

Hahaha, I can't blame you for that. It never made sense to me why Fenris could join a mage hawke, let alone be romanced by one.

I mean -sure- objectively my Hawke might of been a tad evil but eeeh. Not my fault I like Blood magic and skipping around with my Blood Mage girlfriend! Blame Varric and Isabella! They said we were cute!

Yeah Danarius smarmy "the lad is rather skilled isn't he?" is what made me suspect.

But I assumed it wasn't true because of Fenris reaction to Isabela's "glisten" jokes.

Knowing it's true now those jokes are ugh =/
