It would be nice, but it's not exactly a deal breaker for me. It would however be perfect for my lady Cadash, she's gonna be a massive flirt and it would honestly be OOC for her not to try something with Varric.

I like Gimli, I really do. But come on. If you're gonna compare Varric to a Tolkien dwarf, at least do him the courtesy of picking one of the sexy dorfs.xD

 

Edit: now that I think about it. I can't really come up with any Tolkien dwarf that you could compare Varric to. They aren't very roguish.

I keep wondering if Varric is still in contact with Bianca in the cartel.  He says he has "contacts" in the cartel and often talks about Bianca as if she were a person.  Perhaps naming his crossbow Bianca is a bit of misdirection on his part.  That would be cool if it were true.

He has joined the broody club. Even Varric wasn't immune! I'll still love him the same haha. I imagine when he's in a good mood he'll still be the Varric we know and love, just a little more... worldly.

Well, he's been pulled from the only home he's ever known into an organization trying to stop the apocalypse. I'd be a little upset too.

Exactly. All these threads popping up showing surprise for his attitude are weird to me. Are we sure we all watched the end of DA2? Or even the beginning, heck he was practically assaulted and forced to speak under threat of more physical harm. I don't hate Cass, but his opinion of her after that is pretty justified.

I think that's a big part of his attitude in that video. We've already been told he doesn't like Cass., I'm sure he's still his snarky self with companions he likes.

 

Also, I think that thread in scuttlebutt might be the worst I've ever seen on this forum. At least since the ME3 debacle. Place is disgusting.

Yeahp, I've been expecting the tension of Varric/Cass. People are trying to still compare him to his DA2 personality. Character development doesn't work that way guys... everyone else can be negative but Varric can't... why? Sillies.

 

That thread is horrendous. I went in expecting some insanity, but not to that level. It's devolved into mindless off-topic hostility in all directions... I even had a conversation about Geralt with someone. I'm going to go out on a huuuuuuge limb and guess OP is a troll and succeeded.

Yeahp, I've been expecting the tension of Varric/Cass. People are trying to still compare him to his DA2 personality. Character development doesn't work that way guys... everyone else can be negative but Varric can't... why? Sillies.

Yeah the important part is that Anders change made sense, which it did. He had a story and a legitimate reason for being so different, he wasn't retconned like some people like to say. I swear I don't think people who say that even know what the word means. Varric has a reason as well... for all we know he could be suffering from PTSD, depression, ect. I mean he wasn't exactly fond of joining either side and he was the kind of guy who avoided conflict as much as possible.

In the same way that (I would venture to say most) don't like the idea of Morrigan and Leliana being romanceable by the Inquisitor, for most people Varric and Hawke were as thick as thieves... after seven years of friendship and gallavanting around Kirkwall, I would hope that the Inquisitor can't get the same depth of affection that Hawke did. Admiration and respect, yes, but... I don't know what I'm talking about. I just wouldn't like it, okay?

Well, people can have more than one best friend. Hell, I imagine he was nearly best friends with everyone in the DA2 crew.

I understand where you're coming from. Personally I'm selfish and do want to get really close to him... but when I think about it, I do still want my Hawke to remain his very best friend. I wouldn't mind a comment from him like "You're a great pal, Inquisitor, I just wish I could introduce you to my best friend [Hawke]." I think that would be adorable. :3

Agreed, you could definitely see that he might have a change of heart on helping mages in his DA:A talks with Justice. It's not like this just came from the middle of nowhere.

I think Awakening!Anders always cared about the mages plight, but he lacked the motivation or passion to act before he merged with Justice...So when the combined it just like really... intensified everything. A lot. xD

 

One thing I'm worried about is how choosing to let Varric keep the shard is going to work... we know he's already changed a bit, I wonder if the shard will only enhance this change... the first file I'm importing is the one where I let him keep it. I'm a bit scared. >.>

I hate myself for feeling this way, but I almost do want to be spoiled this way so I can avoid potential upsets mid-way through the game. I know, I know, I'm a terrible metagamer and should burn in nerdhell.

Never thought about that, but I do hope they give us warning before Hawke shows up.

 

Otherwise if I take someone else and bump into him/her I'm gonna have to reload the whole sequence just to get Varric in the party. And I most definitely would, no matter how much progress would have to be lost. :S

Yeeeah...that could be bad. I've never let him keep the shard, so I really don't know.

I don't like how he seems to be dragged along. I would much rather have preferred him coming voluntarily since he wants to help set the world straight again. Whether because of guilt that he was one of the ones who brought Red Lyrium to the surface or protect Anders, or because he wants to be there so he can tell the greatest story that will ever be told, or etc.

Just think of the alternative: giving Sandal part of the idol instead. If it corrupts Sandal, our defeat is assured.
