For those of you who won't brave scuttlebutt or twitter: If you haven't got DAO on your computer, go get it for free on origin!

I almost wish I didn't already have it so I can get it for free... that doesn't make any sense but oh well. xD

Prank gifts and good gifts, basically. Pity they didn't have an animation to go with them when you gave them. It was neat to play fetch with the dog though. And Morrigan playing with her voodoo doll was always good for a laugh. :D

I didn't really use them since they made me feel like I was cheating...I did use them on sten though. Since I like his story arc, but our philosophys simply don't gel.

That and I like his epilogue slide the best out of all the companion slides.

There's so much.... stuff.... going on right now!

I think that's a big part of his attitude in that video. We've already been told he doesn't like Cass., I'm sure he's still his snarky self with companions he likes.

Also, I think that thread in scuttlebutt might be the worst I've ever seen on this forum. At least since the ME3 debacle. Place is disgusting.

I haven't risked that Varric thread yet.  Is it really that toxic in there?  Why?

I don't like how he seems to be dragged along. I would much rather have preferred him coming voluntarily since he wants to help set the world straight again. Whether because of guilt that he was one of the ones who brought Red Lyrium to the surface or protect Anders, or because he wants to be there so he can tell the greatest story that will ever be told, or etc.

I think it's safe to say at this point that we still have no clear idea why he's joined the Inquisition.  Best not to drown your hopes in too many assumptions! :)

The other thread is fine right now if you are on Varric's side in him being a jerk to Cassandra.

Well, the fact he wouldn't even be in this part of the world if it was his choice doesn't help build confidence.

In a partly related note....  You might want to go look in the Cassandra thread ;) :)

Lots of madness over Cassandra not being an addict, mainly :)  And tree puns.  That's other threads, though; I think everyone here's too busy watching Varric and Bianca blast bad guys in all the myriad vids.

Oh, and DAO for free of course!

Catchyalaters.

Oh, the Varric thread in scuttlebutt seems pretty well mannered to me, at least the last time I checked it was. Most people are defending him so I find it to be a cool place. XD There was another really, really horrible thread last night I would tell everyone to avoid, but it's probably been deleted.

I was watching those vids before I fell asleep earlier. *-* everything looks so pretty. Whoever did the boss fight one was horrible at it, though. XD Oh, but I didn't know before all this that anyone can revive fallen party members now, that's cool. Makes it seem a little less difficult perhaps than I thought it was going to be.

Yes, everyone can revive but mages can have a specific revival skill that is supposed to be quicker.

So, from the gameplay video(s), we learned that Varric has the Artificer specialization.

Any thoughts on that?

Pretty much what I figured, really. That specialization certainly seems the most fitting for him.

Actually, we already knew his spec from an interview. But the description is new. Deadly traps and convoluted devices.

I wonder if Varric learned any new tricks lorewise, or if it's just because that was the specialization left over after Cole and Sera. The only engineering aspect of Varric in DA2 that I can remember was the crossbow, which he didn't build.

I don't know why anyone would get up in arms over Varric and Cassandra butting heads. I think it's hilarious! Cassandra, bless her heart, is far too direct and blunt to match wits with someone as sharp as Varric. In three banters he's had the last word. I wonder if she will eventually get a good one in. I'll be keeping score.

She keeps trying to make herself look like the grown up but Varric shows that no, she's the one being childish.

I'm so evil though. Those revive animations? I wonder if Varric revives Cassandra by kicking her? "Get up! Nap time's over!"

On the other hand, it would be interesting if Varric went too far and genuinely hurt Cassandra's feelings. I wonder how he would react? I think he'd feel bad about it and apologize. That could also serve as a lesson to Cassandra. Acknowledging your mistakes doesn't make you a lesser being.

Arrg! I want this game!

If he genuinely hurts someone's feelings and doesn't make amends, he'll find Bianca burning in Skyhold's fireplace.

There are certain things I'll sadly only ever be able to write or fanart about this game. My human necromancer probably has a few magical tricks up her sleeve for scaring the crap out of companions who deserve it. xD Totally harmless though, of course... maybe.

I don't think I'd wanna play a trick on Varric though... he could probably pay me back tenfold.

I actually see that (the bold part) as being something that will happen. I imagine their, uh... tense? relationship carries over to each of their story arcs. And I'd say, if you befriend the pair of them, you'll have an influential presence in how their relationship matures. Will Varric forgive her?

I don't think Cassandra's problem is thinking aggression is the best approach. I think her problem is thinking aggression is the only approach. Granted it’s served her well thus far, but her story in Inquisition does seem to be one of change, or disillusionment, rather. That may involve learning a few things about herself.
