Keep lets me do lots of things that I never really wanted or regretted doing.
I regretted letting my warden that was in love with Zevran make the ultimate sacrifice so I let her live.
I never romanced Leliana so I make a character that did... and let that Warden make the ultimate sacrifice instead.
Never romanced Morrigan because while I like her I never would be mean enough for her so I made a Warden for her, who was a little rebel and let the tower and all those mages she didn't like burn ![]()
Oh and siding with the templars, i could never do that irl so I did that.
I'm still always besties with Varric so.... yeah. That will always be.

I've had fun in the Keep with the random button.
It's how I made my evil worldstate! (i'm so happy we can finally talk about the keep in detail here now that it's out hehe)
My evil worldstate romances morrigan, sides with the werewolves, sides with the templars, defiles the urn, didn't free Sten, didn't recruit Dog, Recruited Zevran but killed him, Recruited Wynne but killed her, and didn't defend Redcliffe.
I do still need to make an Ultimate Sacrifice World State... maybe a non-romanced one. Or maybe I'll try that for a Leliana romance and see if she brings it up in DAI.

I had a random thought the other day.
Jennifer Hale has done some voice work for Inquisition, as has Mark Meer. Hale described her role as ground-breaking. I don't know if it counts as ground-breaking exactly but... what if they both voice the Elder One... and it sounds male if you play an Inquisitor or female if you play an Inquisitrix ? We've only ever heard It in trailers featuring a male character, after all...
Unrelated, I really want to clearly hear the American female voice now. We've heard at least a little from all of them now except that one; they talked over the CC voice test in that stream last week!

She said that? And here I was thinking that I couldn't get more excited. But I don't think they're voicing the Elder One. Or at least not him, the Elder One doesn't sound like Mark Meer in the trailer (but the dude's got sick range, so I suppose anything is possible). And YES! It's about time we hear Sumalee. I love Alix Wilton Regan, but I want to know what my dwarf and qunari will sound like ![]()

But I SWEAR I do love him! It's just the one thing!

You don't have to defend yourself xD
It's perfectly fine to not love every single part of him or any character for that matter. As long as you're not being a dick about it it's ok! ![]()
And that last part goes both ways. Over zealous fans can be just as irritating as the haters.

Oh no worries, I've posted a few times in that thread, the way it's worded isn't hostile or anything and the OP wasn't being a jerk. Of course just because Varric is popular doesn't mean every single person ever is going to like him. xP
Some have called him boring and I saw another person talking about him being a "kiss-a** there to boost the players ego"
I can kiinda understand where the people saying boring are coming from (even though I personally disagree), I do think he has room for some character development and I expect to learn a lot about him we didn't know before in DAI. Super excited for that. The kiss-a** comment made me laugh. Varric tells Hawke straight up when he disagrees or doesn't like something, and in no way does he idolize or worship Hawke, he just considers him a best friend after knowing him for so many years. It's like any character who has a friendly demeanor and becomes the players friend could be considered that in that context. xP

It's his relationship with Hawke that I don't particularly like... It came off as an unfair exchange to me, because all of the major events in Hawke's life are seen by Varric. He knows so much about her (well, she was a 'her' to me), but Varric doesn't tell Hawke anything about him. That's always kind of bothered me. You can't say you're best friends with someone when you know everything about them, but they know next to nothing about you.
I mean, it's clear (if you're friends) that he cares very much about Hawke, It's just that it feels like they're close without actually being close. One-sided closeness.

I understand where you're coming from on this and I agree. Though, a way I like to think of this is that the events of DA2 are narrated (or told) by Varric to Cassandra. Cassandra wants to know Hawke's story, so anything unimportant to this topic is left out, meaning he probably didn't tell her anything about himself that didn't also involve something important pertaining Hawke. I really do think that Hawke knows Varric more than we got to know him while playing the game, and I'm hoping we get to learn some of these things in DA:I since he's no longer the narrator and now just another character. ![]()

I get that and I sort of agree. Varric is one of the companions we learn the least about. I think the reason why is because he's the one telling the story and he seems to avoid things that are too personal (his relationship with his brother after the deep roads and Bianca). Maybe Hawke did learn all of those things off screen, but Varric didn't tell that part of the story to Cassandra because they were irrelevant. We don't know. I do think we'll learn about the things that he's been hiding in this game. And I'm pretty sure he and the Inquisitor will have a different dynamic than Varric and Hawke ![]()

I like to think a reason he's being brought back is exactly because we learned so little of him in DA2, and there's much potential still for him as a companion to explore. DA2 took place in Kirkwall for the vast majority so Varric never ran into anything connecting to his past (aside from reuniting with Bartrand). We learn more about other companions because Varric heard their stories and Cassandra wanted to know about Hawke's friends and their affiliations, but Varric is just known as being the one who tells the story, he had no real opinion on mages or templars or the war while Anders, Fenris, Aveline, Merrill ect all did have affiliations with mages or templars to some degree. Isabela was important to talk about because she was a huge factor in the Qunari attack. But our buddy Varric was just stuck in the middle of everything. xD

My GameStop is in a mall and will be closed
Shocked it's not opening for a midnight release though I don't know how it works in the States, I'm in the UK and near enough every store here that's stocking Inquisition is opening at midnight. I'm debating going to the midnight release or just picking it up on Friday afternoon, as I know the queues will be massive..... I might just go and take a flask of tea and a folding chair with me.
Look out guys! There's a Varric dislike thread!
Each to their own, if we all liked the same thing the world would be a very dull place.
