Sounds like my family, completely interfering but in a protective we love you and don't want to see you hurt, ill or upset in any way or we'll make them pay or force you to take your meds kinda way. I'd pay to see Varric like this.
I get that and I sort of agree. Varric is one of the companions we learn the least about. I think the reason why is because he's the one telling the story and he seems to avoid things that are too personal (his relationship with his brother after the deep roads and Bianca). Maybe Hawke did learn all of those things off screen, but Varric didn't tell that part of the story to Cassandra because they were irrelevant. We don't know. I do think we'll learn about the things that he's been hiding in this game. And I'm pretty sure he and the Inquisitor will have a different dynamic than Varric and Hawke

Exactly. I mean, for all we know, Varric and Hawke might have had a late night at the Hanged Man where he bared his soul to Hawke. Breaking down into tears over Bianca and his brother going mad and his mother being a drunk etc. Of course Varric isn't going to tell that to Cassandra, the woman who rammed a dagger too close to him for comfort. Varric says it himself that he's not the main character so he's gonna keep as much focus off him as possible.
I feel like I've been keeping Varric at arm's length for a while because I'm still sad he's not romanceable. Like, I got it, I trust the writers, just personal disappointment. Every time I see him in a livestream I do get disappointed again... and again. But you know, talking about him like this makes me remember, OH YEAH, Varric is one of my favorite characters and I can't keep this handsome dwarf at arm's length because then I'm not going to get all these wonderful details I've been wanting.
And I'm pretty sure he and the Inquisitor will have a different dynamic than Varric and Hawke
I would really like that.
I mean, I ofcourse want Varric and the Inquisitor to be on good terms with each other, but I don't Varric to be the "best friend, best bro" character again. He's Hawke's best friend.
I feel conflicted when I think about it. Of course I want to be close to Varric in DAI but if they get too close I'll start getting jealous for my Hawke. But at the same time I really want to get to know him! 
I'm actually kind of hoping the guess some people have made that we'll be able to play as Hawke for a short time are true and that during that period we can interact with Varric.
Impression I'm getting is Hawke is Varric's best friend and Inquisitor is his boss. A boss he might actually grow to like, but I still think at the end of it Hawke will always be his true bromance.
Which is why I'm looking forward to the BFF reunion feels.

Just to come back to this.... Hale described whatever it was she was doing for the game as "ground-breaking" and a "great honour". It could be that the two of them are voicing the Warden, for all we know, although now we know they apparently won't be in the game I guess they won't be.

That's the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw that picture. Varric and helmets are not a good match.

This is like the paper one on my fridge except the dragon is on the 21st space, got that weekend off and my no class week/study week starts on the 24th so I'll have some limited spare time to immerse myself in the game.

Just a kinda bad shot I guess. Not everyone looks great when you pause and screencap in the middle of a facial expression. I don't think it looks that horrible.
