I read that no one has been able to trigger anything about whether Varric has the red lyrium or not.  My theory?  A DLC or some such is going to explore what it is, and Varric goes Anders-in-Legacy and needs the sense knocked back into him.  If he doesn't have it, he thanks his lucky stars that Hawke was smarter than him.

I would love it if the do something like this in a DLC or expansion.

I hope so.  I want more of the intelligent, talking darkspawn.  That's a weird plot thread never to come back to, and they keep going back to it.  There's a letter in Inquisition about a dwarf's grandfather seeing three talking darkspawn blaming one another, until one eats the others.

I find the implication that the architect is a magister to be nauseating.  Easy amnesia rarely works well, the same twist twice rarely works well, and it just doesn't seem to add up.  I'm more inclined to believe one of the magisters was a woman who became the first broodmother, and he's one of hers.  It makes sense, because without the first broodmother, how can there be more than just a bunch of ghouls?

That would be a cool concept for DLC. Maybe changing my world states in fear wasn't useless after all. xD

I don't know, he and Corypheus are too similar so I'm leaning towards him being a magister. But I wouldn't complain if it turns out he's something similar to your theory. I just know that I want to see him again.

Actually the more I think about it, I need this dlc/expansion/game! I want to know more about the blight and talking darkspawn! I want to see more of the Grey Wardens, and I really need to see

I know, right?

I just feel like it doesn't add up.  He's a magister and just...forgot?  Lame.  Not to mention what he's doing still around.  Corypheus was at least in a kind of stasis.  Him being the child of the first broodmother and getting her human attributes makes way more sense and is a more satisfying plot to me.

Can ghouls make broodmothers?  One of the magisters would almost have to have been a woman otherwise...

And they keep dangling the intelligent, talking darkspawn in front of us and pulling away.  All those darkspawn activity operations I started to be afraid I'd miss the architect if I didn't do them.

And I want a darkspawn companion.

And I want Sandal's prophecy to come true, a dwarf PC of that game to start showing magical ability, and play a dwarf mage the game after that.

I feel like each game has an extra it gives to certain groups.  Noble wardens can be king/queen, Dalish inquisitors get Solas, I think I'd be okay if they kept up with that and the next game deals with dwarves regaining magic.

Which is my theory on Sandal.  He's part elf and his elf genes are triggering magic his dwarf genes don't know what to do with.

I was fine with Varric's role in DA:I, to be honest. I don't need him to change.

That said, along with characters like Leliana and Cullen, I don't think he should be much more than a cameo in future games. I wouldn't mind something in DLC where Varric's thing with Bianca is more resolved, but I think his story should otherwise be considered "done."

I'm sad to concur.  They can only keep people around for so long before it gets dull.  I wouldn't mind him being an adviser or historian to the next PC, and if so,  want to get Bianca to commit, get him to admit his feelings to Hawke, or marry him off to Harding or Dagna.

That being said, I wonder how they're going to deal with succession after Alistair and Anora, at least one of which seems to have fertility problems?  I wouldn't mind Kieran being put forth if the warden-king's, Alistair's, or Loghain's as one option.  Just because Morrigan doesn't want him king doesn't mean it's not what he wants.

For amusement - by complete fluke a pause mid-combat captured the antics of Thedas' new demon-and-companion acrobatics troupe!

Funny that it seems to take big strong warrior men to provoke this reaction... first Cullen, now Blackwall!

I do keep wondering when Skyhold is going to happen, though. Still in Haven, visited the Hinterlands, Storm Coast, Forbidden Oasis and Val Royeaux... Gotten invites and messages from an Enchanter, a doodling Red Jenny and a Bull. Recruited Ole Beecfcakes, obviously.  When will disaster strike? ;)

I'm sure I will!  I just don't know when it happens or, more importantly, what provokes it.  It could be at any moment... which is kinda fun!

^_^  Everything that happens after feels like it could be the endgame.  It's great and terrible.

just ran across the "guilty pleasure" quest. not going to spoil it, but it put a huge smile on my face. it's worth finding if you like to see verric in not so combaty action.

That seems to have been the general reaction, yes.

Maybe if they do a Citadel-style DLC that'll be one of the bonus missions, triggered after Varric's quest, to set him up with Dagna or Harding.  Or we find out they've been keeping it discreet.  :P

Varric and Harding would be so cute together!

I ship Varric with either of the two.

Biance was.... different than I was expecting. And it looks like their relationship isn't really gonna go anywhere.

One, quick question - does it matter if I recruit more people before or after The Event?  Does it affect anything except, presumably, dialogue and who is available to Do Stuff At The Time?

I'm guessing not.  Although.... Blackwall has called Isileth "Inquisitor" already a little before time... ^_^

Is it bad though?  Sure, it was a family chosen guy - but she seems fine with it (the Wiki says she is unhappy, but she laughs about him off selling her creations and doesn't act that sad about the relationship) and seriously - I'm not sure I feel bad enough for her to help her out.  She laughs off the idea that her family wants to kill Varric - and they do try and kill him.  I just feel bad about the whole situation for Varric.  It seems like Bianca gets the best of both - her family's approval/a husband, and Varric when she wants him.  I'd rather a happy ending for Varric, and them remaining friends.  It seems a bit mean to leave a guy pining after you for at least 7 years.

Most people seem to see that as precisely what's wrong with this.  Convincing Varric to move on could have been a fun story arc...and it kinda just doesn't go anywhere.  We could have used his quest as a jumping off point, pointing out to him that she's moved on and done some dumb things, but he seems to have hit it off with Harding...

I'm hoping he'll be in DA4 as Josephine's successor or some such.  Maybe then.

Also, Starkhaven haing a logo on the map makes me wonder if we will visit in DLC, or were intended to.  Kirkwall doesn't have a logo.

You know what else would be great?  Dagna for DA4 companion...and LI.

And I want a darkspawn companion.

There are too many hurdles in the lore to go over to make this a possibility. An example being that you and your companions would contract the Blight by just being with him.
