This is going to sound unfair maybe and maybe a little to harsh but after the Bianca thing I've found myself loosing some respect for Varric mostly based on personal bias and the fact I'm pretty cold hearted to things like this in my day to day life but I just feel idk like his character is a bit ruined for me now. Not that as a character he's ruined what I mean is that I just can't enjoy him like I used to after this thing came to light as silly as it may sound. As a side note I also found Bianca's design kind of lazy though I can't exactly put my finger on why, didn't care for her too much as a character in DAI and now I'm feeling pretty lukewarm about Varric now too.

What was weird is that after doing Varric's quest I started running into glitched Bianca-models in the Emprise with human heads growing out of their foreheads.

So really, to me, the moral obligation she has is to not put Varric in mortal danger rather than not cheat on her husband. However much she may like the guy, she didn't get any say in being married to him, so it's not as if she's betraying some sort of trust there.
Honestly the whole situation is stupidly convoluted. If Bianca is so invaluable to the merchant's guild she should be able to leverage that into marrying who she wants or at least being able to keep Varric on the side as a paramour. And failing that, once Varric joins up with the Inquisition, if they want to be together, the Inquisition should have more than enough clout to keep the guild from killing him; I refuse to believe that an organization that can have the Empire of Orlais in it's pocket can be out muscled by the merchant's guild and carta.
I disagree with the disney princess thing. Disney princesses don't tend to cheat on their husbands (not in cannon anyway haha). But I agree with everything in bold SO much. IF Bianca is so amazing like we're told, why can't she put her foot down and tell them what's what!
You're being unfair to Bianca who was also put in a situation she didn't want because husband (that she was pretty much forced to marry) is a nice guy, we see that Bianca also cares deeply for Varric the same way he cares for her
Thing is, she HAD the option to leave. She was going to marry Varric and they could have just run off together into the sunset. Yeah her family would have gone after her, but that was a chance Varric was willing to take. If she really didn't want to be with this man, then she should have run away in my opinion. You know what? I bet Varric told her it would make a better story if they ran off together. But she probably refused and that's probably what her "Story" line was about when she was trying to get one last jab at Varric at the end.
Personally if given the option I would have told Varric to let her go and move on with his life because frankly shutting down the Carta so Varric can bang who he wants to bang is not a worthy use of the Inquisition's resources.
But I do think it should be an option.
I've been saying this all the long. Why don't we have that option? Varric could totally tell us "Hey, that's none of your business!" and we could get Varric Disapproves but at least it was said!
Her "brilliant smithing" is part of why I dislike her as a character.
She's a better smith than Branka, she's a better marksman than Varric, she's snarky, she's tough enough to threaten the Inquisitor without reprisals, she's utterly invaluable to the Carta and the Merchant's guild. Bioware did everything but have a neon sign appear over this woman that reads "OMG GUYS, SERIOUSLY, THIS CHICK IS AWESOME AND STRONG AND AMAZING! CAN'T YOU SEE WHY VARRIC CAN NEVER LOVE ANYONE ELSE WHEN SHE IS SO PERFECT? EVEN HER F*CKUPS BENEFIT YOU WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT!"
So yea, thanks, I'll stick with Dagna.
Man, you are on the money here. Other than the cheating on her husband thing, she's such a Mary Sue. Which kinda makes her more annoying to me >.>
At the end of the day, we know that these character have chosen these paths. Bianca chose to marry someone other than Varric, Varric chose to stick with a woman that'll never be completely and only with him. They both chose to be in a "relationship" where they hardly see each other, sneak around her husband (whether he knows about Varric or not) and regardless this plan still sorta fails because can you imagine how much Bianca's traditional family would flip if they found out she was still sleeping with Varric? They were sending assassin's after him for visiting before! They'll don the armor themselves to kill him now that he's having an affair with her! (And I know noble dwarves are encouraged to have multiple partners for more kids, but they are surface dwarves so that doesn't apply)
When I played "Well, ****" I really got the sense that Varric and Bianca really still cared for each other, but I also got the sense that there was A LOT of negative feelings too. One blaming the other for why things didn't work out for the best and yet they were still hanging on. I got the sense that they both no this is bad for them but they can't help it, it's like an addiction, the taste of what could have been. But if that's what Varric wanted (to make up stories about how his relationship with her should have gone), why didn't he just stay in that Fade dream in the comics? He up and left the Fade almost instantly saying that he knew she (Fade-Bianca) wasn't real, that she wasn't his. And now in the game, he's okay with that?

I do agree about Bianca's design, they could've tried to match the comic version

No she couldn't marry Varric, the whole thing with the arrange marriage and the fact that the Carta would've been constantly after them

Yeah, that's another reason why I didn't like her. I hate it when people call a female character a Mary Sue just because they don't like her, but Bianca is dangerously close to being one.

If I'm correct, it was hinted that they were going to get married but left Varric at the altar. Her current marriage is "the one she showed up to"

If their relationship was so wonderful and amazing and perfect, she would have taken that risk. But she didn't. And that's fine! I respect that she chose to stay and make the best of the situation! But why would she make Varric stay behind if she loved him so much?No she couldn't marry Varric, the whole thing with the arrange marriage and the fact that the Carta would've been constantly after them
Love is not just a feeling. At some point, that feeling changes into something else, and it becomes a choice. Loving someone else means putting their needs before your own, whether or not its painful to you. If Bianca loved him, she would have told Varric to move on to someone else, no matter how much pain it would have caused her.
And if she's as clever, brilliant and tough as they made her out to be in the game, she totally would have found a way to get the Carta off her back.
I'll make a comparison- if Zevran could fight his way out of a guild of assassins and successfully avoid and/or fight them off with little trouble single-handedly, Bianca could have found a way to escape the Carta.

That's correct, Bliss.
To me it seemed they just went overboard, too strong, with making her special enough to justify Varric's pining for her for 15 years. They went, okay, let's make her smart, beautiful and capable. Well, that's not enough. So let's also make her the best there is at what she does, the best there is at what Varric does (as an archer), tough enough to threaten the Inquisitor - who just helped her (and might even have told Varric not to blame her about it) - and very nonchalant because that'll make her cool.
But regardless, if they had shown her being nicer to him and either them being happy or working toward happy (or even discussing a solution), I wouldn't have minded it much.

Me too.
I was going to be so sad because I didn't have a save before I started the mission. Turns out the plot point was a floor above where I kept going... shh. ![]()

After nosing around Redcliffe, I made my choice.... and I certainly didn't pick the high and mighty, you're-not-good-enough-for-us Templars, if only because The Redcliffe Situation looked like it could potentially make things much worse in the long run.
Which means I saw What Happened Next. And what happened to Leliana. And the rest of it. Very unexpected.
I think the next step is The Doozy.
