I was mostly just surprised and irritated by that casual little threat. I think it was there as a way to show how much she cares about him, but considering Varric is one of my most beloved characters, it managed to get under my skin...especially after I convinced Varric not to scold her. I can forgive her mistake...but I was actually liking her before that. We'd had this fun moment where we discussed being artificers, which just thrilled me at the time. 

 

Then I was interested in the plot surprises, and still enjoying myself. Then she makes that casual threat, and all the wind just gets sucked out of my sails. 

 

I know it was over-sensitive of me, but it just wasn't any fun. Also, really Bianca? I'm trying to save the world here...and you really want to suggest you'll hold me responsible for the possibility of something happening to Varric? It would have been different if she said something a little less irritating, like asking me to please take care of him.

That was exactly it! I was so nice to her, and thinking we had a kind of accord, at least. I get that she doesn't mean it literally, I think, but it's still weirdly aggressive considering everything that had just occurred. 

 

Yeah, I like crossbow Bianca a lot more than person Bianca.

*hugs* I feel ya there. I think I can safely say the majority of this thread agrees with you. As former hopeful Varricmancers we may have some extra reasons, but it's good to see others can agree on some points as well and validate that our feelings make sense without too much personal bias, lol.

I'm still trying to figure out what specialisation to go with.  So far Artificer looks the better one for an archer... Tempest looks better for a dagger rogue, while Assassin could work but doesn't feel right.

I've heard assassin archer works great. And Sera is a tempest archer, so that has to work.

The Tempest stuff seems like it affects people who get close to you... which isn't what you to happen to an archer.  Assassin I guess I need to look at again, and Artificer too.

what i appreciate is that in our critique of bianca, it's not about "OMG THAT B*TCH STOLE VARRIC FROM MEEEEE"

 

it's more so about how "perfect" she is and yet how unhealthy we find her and Varric's relationship to be. and that she flat out threatens the inquisitor for no reason.

 

and yeah some people just hate Bianca, lol they're allowed to dislike any character they feel inclined to

Speaking of Bianca I was thinking of Varric's quest the other day and it being mentioned that she was going to attempt to be nominated as a paragon for the crossbow I believe and her mentioning it wouldn't happen because she was a surfacer and I kind of chuckled on that because I had a world state where Bhelen ruled Orzammar and my Brosca was made a Paragon. I'm not sure why it did though guess maybe it felt like she was making excuses that her being a surfacer was the only thing keeping her from being a Paragon cause she's that awesome yo. If any King of Orzammar would be willing to make a Surfacer a Paragon it'd be Bhelen imo so if she's not made one its more than likely because she's not Paragon material. And I kind of forgot where I was going with this if there was a point I was trying to make it may have gotten lost. Oops^^;

 

Oh one thing I am very glad for is that Hawke didn't get to meet Bianca cause I fear they would have been made to auto like her which some Hawkes may like her sure nothing wrong with that but not every Hawke would, heck it was odd enough seeing my Blood Mage Hawke being disgusted with Blood Magic.

And I did find it a little hypocritical for Mage hawke to dislike blood magic so much because they could indeed use it themselves. Or even a hawke that romanced Merrill (and let Merrill live) to be so very critical. Are you yelling at Merrill this much, Hawke?

Yeah, it felt like just one more reason to try to "like" Bianca. She's soooo talented guys, she's more talented than Branka but not cray cray like Branka. But look she'll never be recognized for her talent feeeeeel for her. Then we find out that she leaked the red lyrium and then threatens the Inquisitor ... and all the good will i was trying to gather up for her just is dropped :/

I'm so glad Hawke didn't meet her as well, because I totally know it wouldn't at all have gone how I wanted it. How I would have wanted it would have been very specific, and it wouldn't have been pretty. And it would have ended with Hawke having a long discussion with Varric before leaving about how she's worried about him and thinks he deserves way more.

 

Good point on the blood magic thing, too. The first comment was okay, I was like yeah Hawke has seen some stuff. But then there were like two other moments and I was like... erm... this is starting to feel like they're really trying to push Hawke despising blood magic, even though they could be a blood mage. XD;
