This has probably been asked a hundred times, but: in Skyhold, I asked Vivienne about my companions, and she said "So Varric was sent here to spy on us", or some such. I played through all Varric's quests(I think - Bianka, lyrium deposits), got the card game, and never in the game did he say anything about spying. Is it a bug, or did I miss something?

Ah OK, does his view on Red Lyrium change? I was really afraid to let Hawke give him that in the Keep, even if actually I always gave him the shards in real DA2 game...

No he still hates the thing and tells you how he is very careful with it. It's in special containment.

Rogue has actually been my staple class since DAO, I just happened to go mage my first time for this game which was a complete first. I'm really enjoying my rogue in my new file though... but I kinda wish I went with something else rather than tempest for my archer. I feel like tempest/archer doesn't go too well together.

Tempest is probably the most broken of all three rogue specs.

Aside from the Flask of Fire + Thousand Cuts exploit, Flask of Lightning turns you into a machine gun.
Flask of Frost sucks for an archer though but it's a good "Oh crap!" button and you can use it to squeeze another few seconds on your other flasks.

that Varric kept Hawke a secret and was still working with him. So in a way he was spying, because sure he was telling Hawke about things. Viv just makes it sound a lot more sinister than it actually is.

I prefer melee myself, always have.

Assassin is my go to but archery is fun this time round but the other specs all have something going for them.

Artificer probably surprised me the most since it looks crap on paper, although so does Tempest, it shines with the right team.

I haven't heard anything good about it and Dorian spends as much time on the sideline as Bull.
Love em both but Bull dies too much and Solas is my preferred party mage.

It has some neat abilities but it's definitely not OP. Had fun with the challenge though, and enjoyed the neat spells.

In honour of the series, got my sis to make a Richard Armitage dwarf and it turned out to look a bit like Dean O'Gorman XD

Hah! I've never gotten that, as I romanced Bull. But that's a gem! I do love Bull. I take him with me all the time anyway and prepare for my potions to be drained. XD Sigh.

I guess the relationship isn't the healthiest... but Varric doesn't seem broken about the whole mess. I mean he has close friends, people he cares for, so it's not like his life centers around Bianca. I don't know I was really excited to know the story behind the crossbow and thought it was a clever twist that the Bianca was still alive.
Bianca did seem a bit flippant but at the same time the Inquisitor only meets her briefly. Imagine the kind of personality you get from Isabela after meeting her for such a brief period of time. She could just be the type who keeps her feelings buried.
I agree that it popsmy romantic fantasy bubble that she picked her family and the Merchants Guild over Varric but still has this weird relationship with him. She wants her cake and to eat it to (I hate this saying, of course you are going to eat your cake). At the same time, Varric's a smart guy. He knows the situation, he chooses to hold on to her, and maybe being in love with her has him spent out on romantic relationships. I mean, you don't need a lover to live a happy and loved life, right?

Anyway, just my thoughts. Nice to meet you Varric thread. I live in the Solas thread but once in a while like to check on Varric, Iron Bull, and Sera (they amuse me). You guys seem very nice too, maybe I'll come over to have tea more often!

I wrote up a nice little summary of my feelings on it where I feel that the writers were trying to give us this wonderful, but very flawed character in our favorite dwarf (it's a couple of pages back). I don't hate Bianca, I think parts of her are really cool, I think they Mary-Sued her up a bit much and I personally feel that we should have been able to tell Varric "hey this isn't the healthiest relationship". To which Varric could have told me it's none of my business but yeah, I least I said it.

But yes! Please come back anytime. Especially because I'm a shut in and really only post on he Varric thread. I like meeting new faces... Just not exploring the forums hahaha

Oh, I know that xD Bela is my favorite. It just also reminded me of a very similar situation in Origins, the original situation I suppose, which was one of my favorite banters ever. The one thing I miss about Oghren, one of the many I miss about her...
