I mean, kids have never really had the biggest influence in any bioware game, aside from maybe Conor in redcliff, but it really just feels like they copy/paste the same "I'm just a kid so I'm just 'cute' and don't have any idea what I'm doing at all!" Conor is perhaps the most complex child we've seen, but only tangentially so because he really wanted to help his father and had the means to do so via a demon. And granted, kids have never been the center of Bioware stories, but I feel like they could have some sense of personality, like other NPCs.
I guess this is spurred by the fact that (if you have him) Morrigan's son was kinda a let down for me. I mean, yes we're told he's smart and a good kid but then he goes running off and I never see him do anything smart or say anything that show that. In fact he just goes running off and his only answers is akin to "aw shucks mom!" I'm just surprised that when bioware can create such wonderful characters they always seem to just cast their children in the same light over and over again. We've been expecting Kerian! His creation is kinda a big deal and we can tell he's had an effect on Morrigan but he's just so very flat it's a disappointment.
I don't know who here has played the telltale games but they have kids all over the place and they are just like adults but with much less experience. But they have personalities and flaws and sometimes you want to roll your eyes because they are so annoying but that's not nearly as annoying as the "i'm just a kid" model bioware keeps pumping out.
this has been thoughts from bliss' mind. thank you and have a great day.
