I have a question that I know I'm going to get flak for but need to ask anyway since you'd know more than anyone else:
Is there a way to get rid of Varric?

I haven't heard of any way to (course, I haven't been looking for one), but maybe possibly if you ****** him off enough? I honestly think the only people you can get to leave are the ones who aren't really devoted to the Inquisition's cause but instead just there to help Quizzy, like Dorian and Sera. But you could try.

I couldn't find one. I think he and Cassandra are the two who stay no matter what. Solas stays as well, until the end at least, and everyone else is optional.

Makes sense, because they are the ones you start out with, so they are also probably your permanent party... in case you throw everyone else out/don't recruit them. They give you a warrior, mage and rogue base just in case lol.

Yeah, probably. Plus he is required for starting the Here Lies the Abyss questline.
I still think there should have been an option to kick him out after that was finished though.
Well, he's the 'occasional unwelcome tagalong'. D'aaw. *hugs Varric* ![]()

More like permanent unwelcome tagalong.
More like permanent unwelcome tagalong.
For you maybe. Homie still has many fans, in-universe and out.
That's fine. People can like who they like.
But I still think it should have been an option, or at least something they can be confronted about. Even Cassandra and Solas have cutscenes where they almost leave but don't because they have a reason to see this finished first. Meanwhile Varric doesn't.

There's always the option known as "Ignoring the **** outta him". Maybe you should try it?

And then he'd be all like

It's impossible. Both in Haven and at Skyhold, he is positioned in places where you have no choice but to see him.
Play as a qunari... and never look down? ![]()

So? Just walk right past him and don't talk to him. It's not rocket science. Pretend that he's just an extra sexy statue or something.

Emphasis on that part. ![]()
Let's just hope being a statue doesn't give him an abnormal hatred of pigeons. Poor Shale.
Varric does have a crisis scene like the others, but it doesn't seem like he can leave.
Aside from the initial 3, it seems everyone can leave except Vivienne.

Except he shows up in a few cutscenes or banters. Like I said, it is impossible to ignore him to the point where you can think he is no longer with you.

Link to scene please?

You can't ignore the screaming baby on the bus, your neighbor who plays loud music every night, the idiots who can't drive on the road or the loud kid at the back of the classroom either. You can however learn to not give a damn about them and pretend like they don't exist.

Spoiler
That's not a crisis scene, that's just Varric lecturing you.

Yeah I was going to say.
Like he has any room to.
He's half the reason the world is in this mess.
Exactly. People are getting mad at Bianca for giving Red Lyrium to Corypheus while he was wearing a Warden suit, yet:
Who protected the mage who started the war from Templars? Varric
Who helped introduce Red Lyrium to the world, Bianca included? Varric
Who helped release Corypheus by bringing the key to the lock? Varric.

Ah, the blame game.
Who protected the mage who started the war from Templars? Varric
Anders was his friend at the time. Varric looks out for his friends. That is no failing.
He sure as hell didn't look out for him afterwards.
Who helped introduce Red Lyrium to the world, Bianca included? Varric
Sure. No way he would have known the consequences of discovering a puny little idol, though.
Who helped release Corypheus by bringing the key to the lock? Varric.
That started as simply going after a Carta clan hunting Hawke. Once again, how was he supposed to know where that would lead?
Moral of this story is hindsight is 20 friggin 20, tbh.
