I think Varric and Bianca's relationship is a lost cause. She's married to someone else and not even the end of the world could bring them together romantically. Just cut ties and move on already. It may hurt like hell but it's probably for the best.

Depending of your choices during DA2 Hawke can become one of Varric's best friends, their relation is built on many years but Varric don't mention the existence of the real Bianca until DAI.

As much as I hate to admit it, I don't want that anymore. I love Varric, he's still one of my favorite characters but I don't want to romance him anymore. If he won't fight for his so called true love, why would he fight for another relationship?
I haven't played DA2, so I must ask.
Varric seems to care a great deal about Hawke in DA:I, so I can't help wondering if the previous game actually shows them developing such a deep bond.
Hawke and Varric have a Garrus/Shepard thing going. It's an epic bromance where they both go through a lot (both personal and political stuff get in their way). DA2 takes place over almost 10 years so they've been best friends for a long time.
I suppose you can rival Varric, but that's almost impossible.
As much as I hate to admit it, I don't want that anymore. I love Varric, he's still one of my favorite characters but I don't want to romance him anymore. If he won't fight for his so called true love, why would he fight for another relationship?
Yea, I've gotten to this place with the PC romancing Varric,though I admit to loving Varric/Cassandra. Still have yet to see a fanfic dealing with Bianca in a manner which is satisfying. Like bodily torture,but that's just me

Varric/Cassandra is alright, but Varric/Harding is my otp! xD
I haven't had time to read any DAI fanfic about Varric yet, but I think people have to really step away from canon if they want to make the Bianca thing satisfying. Have her be long dead or bring them back together or something instead. The way Varric and Bianca left things in game was just so awkward and unsatisfactory, it's hard to "fix" it.
Since Bianca is kind of being brought back up anyone else noticed that her design was a copy and paste of a lyruim trader in Haven? I suspected it on my second playthrough and confirmed it on the third, if they didn't sound so different I would have assumed it was suppose to be the same character.

You're right, he's way more serious this time. But think about all that's happened to him: after the events of DA2 he got more or less kidnapped by Cass, Hawke's gone and he's convinced that everything is his fault. Varric is lonely and full of guilt, it makes sense that he's holding back on the snark. But the old Varric is still there, you just have to bring the right party.

I have seen a few dwarf ladies dressed very similarly. There's another at Suledin Keep, for example.

I've only noticed the one but this one was talking to Josephine when I was trying to so that could be why I noticed her. She wasn't just dressed alike the face was alike too right down to the same shade of lipstick the and same eyebrows. Honestly the gal feels less like a character and more like a semi plot device to me and not a very good one.

He did lose some of his snark, though I'd blame a lot of that on the fact that the Inquisitor doesn't really have a decent snarky personality like Hawke did. Varric and sarcastic Hawke bounced off of each other beautifully, without that...it's mostly just his banters.
And you can see a lot of old Varric in quite a few of those, on that note. But he is a changed person by now, so it'd be understandable in any event.

That's really the problem with Bianca, I feel. Other than her unhealthy relationship with Varric, of course, which we already knew about, even if we didn't know how bad it was. I went into that quest thinking, "Okay, now I wonder what this woman who Varric has pined for all these years is really like," but other than saying she is sort of generically "spunky", I could not describe her personality at all after that quest. It isn't even that I dislike her, she is just so "meh." They didn't give her any depth whatever and just made her "random girl that broke Varric's heart." So yeah, that was my reaction to Varric's companion quest, "meh" and companion quests are often the strong points of the game to me, so that was really disappointing.

Lol dude before they announced Varric wasn't romanceable to would reference that scene to point out why I thought Bianca was out of the picture. Sigh... If only

I don't know about anyone else but I've gone back to shipping him with Hawke. I like the idea of the Inquisitor pushing them together
