A discussion with differing viewpoints is not inherently indicative of upset feelings, or indeed, a "problem". It is off-topic. So I will refrain from further derailment. I meant no offense either.

It's not that. I was apologizing for if I offended anyone with the use of the term "straighty." I'm sure no one cried over it, but it can come off as pretty damned rude. I was raised to try to be polite whenever possible, and apologize for rudeness.
It's not because anyone offered a different viewpoint. The problem was that there was some heated emotions rising in the thread that seemed too defensive on both sides for a constructive debate, and that's never any good. My post wasn't to you, or TK, or anyone specific. I was just trying a request for peace, that's all. ![]()
I think I'm going to grab a cup of coffee. Coffee will help.

See, because it isn't the majority I'm mocking, nor do I think it's the majority that BW was mocking either. It isn't the majority of straight men that has been saying this stuff to BioWare. This isn't even a decent size of the population.
It's a very small group of very loud, uneducated folks spouting hatred in the name of "concern", which I make fun of regardless of anyone's social status. I'm making fun of their stupidity.
For example, I would never dare call a straight man that's respectful of others "straighty" despite any majority status. No, I'm mocking that teeny tiny sub-group of the majority, the ones that keep going on and on about "straightphobia" and all this other nonsense. That's what I mean when I say "Straighty," and from what I read, that's what the dev was getting at too.
Is it a poor choice of words? Perhaps, but I can still laugh at the joke. I honestly didn't mean to offend you and if I had, I won't use the term again.
Thanks.
This is one of the reasons I asked you.

Everything okay in here? *hugs all* I'm sorry if the straighty thing offended anyone as well. I laughed at it and didn't think about how I might have been acting like the people who always hurt my feelings, so sorry guys! I hope there wasn't any ill feelings in here about it. D:
Also I just noticed that the one troll we were talking about (the one Nat reported) tried to start something up in IB's thread talking about how FPJ is a horrible VA. To my amusement, everyone's reaction was pretty much "naaaah, that's just your opinion" and he was ignored.

http://dgaider.tumbl...ere-romanceable
I am okay with asking a player to play a different gender or sexuality if they are solely interested in romancing a specific character…but not with requiring them to do so just to have an equitable number of choices.
So, fair to expect that straight and gay inquisitors will get the same number of options?
I know that some people are expecting Varric (or even Solas, Vivienne, Blackwall) to be straight for some reason, but this seems to imply that whoever the 2 remaining love interests are, they'll be available to both genders. Otherwise, some gender/sexuality combinations will get less options.
Or am I misinterpreting this quote?

Anyone else go through ups and downs of feeling Varric is more or less likely to be a romance? Based off of party statistics alone, and the fact that all returning characters have been romanceable in Bioware games, I feel he's slightly more likely, from a logical stance. Just a tiny bit optimistic. But the more emotional center of my brain and the pessimist in me is preparing, just in case.

Sorry, I needed a few. Been posting up a storm in the romance thread, although when a certain poster quoted me, I pretend they didn't exist. So did the majority of the thread. ![]()

You weren't the user... or are you lamenting not seeing me in debate-y action? It's quite a spectacle. Sympathy, sarcasm, smilies, usually culminating in me telling the person I'm arguing with to PM me if they want to keep going, as destroying my enemies in private is much more fun than causing public humiliation. ![]()

I was lamenting that I didn't get to see you in action. I was hoping to experience the Glory of Rome, where you destroyed someone in Latin.

It can get awkward in public with people around not really knowing what to say, so I fully agree. xD I (try) to stay away from open debate for that very reason.
