As I understand,

when people were still waiting for Dragon Age Origins or Dragon Age 2 to release Bioware revealed all the names of companions to fans beforehand at their websites.

Those who followed the websites before the release, knew that Oghren and Fenris would join your party the moment they were introduced.

 

Just like what is happening right now I quess.

 

But the secret companion in Dragon Age Origins was suprise to anyone and many played DAO without even realizing the option to recruit Loghain.

 

Do you think(/hope) it would be a possiblity that Bioware is keeping from us again one or more suprise follower option in DAI?

 

I wouldnt mind the option again to replace companions with more "evil ones" or something provided I do the "right" decicions towards the end.

Flemeth will be the secret companion in DAI.

The secret companion is your Warden. They've been left mute however by an injury. Now they either scowl and mumble, smile and hum, or grin and whistle.

 And his/her face has been covered in acid, and wears a mask, since there is no appearance stats going through DA Keep.

Could just wear a full-face helm, forever. Easier to avoid assassinations that way. Horrible helmet-hair though.

Warden could come back as a darkspawn perhaps. I'm sure the Bioware fanbase would love that..

Secret companions could be anything..Starting with Empress Celene , and ending with Flemeth. I personally would be happy with DLC where your advisors could be made into companions too.

Three mages, three rogues, and three warriors seems like a nice rounded party. I don't expect a secret companion for Inquisition. 

 

But.

 

If they happen to have included one, for me I would hope for a Mabari War Hound?

I wouldn't be shocked if there was at least one more companion in the game. Either as bonus (sidequestline?), or right around the end, or to replace a character.

 

No clear sign of that yet though. I mean we see a bunch of characters that could join, but nothing we can go with.

 

Part of me would love it.

Part of me would dislike it. I have trouble enough picking from 6/7(DA2/DAA) to 9(DAO)!

Only if it doesn't kick the party member the secret companion is replacing. I disliked that with Loghain (but with some RP playthroughs I wish I could get rid of Alistair sooner ).

Charade Amell to be revealed as the secret companion, who replaces [Redacted] as they die in the first 5 minutes.

The Tower Guard from DAO shall return! Having fought through a horde of darkspawn to survive Ostagar, he is now Level 500 and capable of killing high dragons with a glance.

 

He went into hiding in a small village in Orlais because he was technically a deserter. Not that he fears execution, mind you; he can bath in Crow poison and just get a mild rash, and his neck is so thick that it can break battleaxes. He didn't want to put up with the tedium of a trial.

 

The Tower Guard joins the Inquisition because the Elder One is the only thing that might prove a challenge for him.

There's actually an option to have Hawke inherent the Inquisitor's powers in the last 5 minutes of gameplay. Little known fact.

The lack of a character creator in the Keep, which isn't meant for physical appearance anyway, does not mean there won't be a character creator for the Hero of Ferelden if he/she should appear in a future DA title.

 

Mike Laidlaw has already stated, after all, that if previous protagonists are present in a game beyond their own, players will be given the option to customize their appearances.
