Daveth, Jory, Bethany, Carver, Tamlen, Jowan, Mhairi, Leske, Gilmore.... The list of companions who we kept or may have kept in our party in past Dragon Age games only for a while is loooooong indeed.
And I dont think DAI is necessarly an exception. Do we command random inqusition soliders in our party in some moments or does some sidequest characters join to us temporarly?

Throw any and all Grey Wardens at me and make them temporary companions. mmmmmm...
I don't think Inquisition soldiers will be filling that role. I'm certain that we'll get our requisite dead-in-prologue Bioware companion(s) though.
The inquisitor's friends or team I assume 
I think we might get the odd mission or two with our advisors (Leliana, Cullen, Morrigan and Scribbles), so I'm going to guess them as temporary companions. It seems a waste sending us on missions with them, when we know three of them are combat-ready, to not use them as temporary companions. Like Tallis for MotA.
In the trailer it appeared like Cullen was a companion, whilst he won't be an actual companion, so I second Jakeuls remark.
Since each race and class starts like Origin type , we prob see temporary companions , but they're fate is sealed. Since its shown Cassandra founds ya alone as sole survivor.
I've little doubt that we will experience at least one temporary companion, but who that proves to be remains unknown. If I had to guess, I would say that Morrigan would be a safe bet.

I'm curious why Morrigan appears on the characters page of the DA site - she's the only one on it that is not a follower.
What does that mean? And why are the advisors not on it? And since she is on it...does that mean temp follower? Secret follower?

Probably companion/follower/advisor whenever she feels like it or not
Cullen, Morrigan, or Leliana. That'd be badass.
Though it's unlikely.
Hopefully, we'll get Morrigan/Leliana/Cullen for one or two missions. I mean they give us like 20 temporary companions in DAO so a few can't hurt in DAI.

I also think that the advisers will fill that role in Inquisition,it was suggested that some(if not all)of them have an actual quest arc.
I hope if they do, Scribbles stabs people with her feather quill, and then makes a reference to good she needed more ink

Yeah, I'm kind of confused by that as well. Mike Laidlaw has stated several times that Morrigan is not a companion ... and yet she appears alongside all of the other companions on the character page? What am I supposed to make of that?
Is her role more or less significant than the advisers? 
I wouldn't mind some temporary companions. I'd prefer they leave as opposed to die, though.
And they can keep whatever equipment I give them - most of the time I'm overflowing with stuff.

Maybe I was reading more into it than there was (maybe they just wanted to fill out all 10 slots evenly on the page?). I have no idea. But there's got to be something special about her, or they wouldn't have been dangling her like a carrot since the very first video.

If it turns out they just wanted symmetry (five pictures on top, five pictures on the bottom), I am going to spaz.
Some jackass said that he spoke with a Bioware person and they told him something to the effect of, "Don't get your hopes up or you will be disappointed," but I'm thinking he was just trolling or talking out of his wazoo.
Laidlaw said that Inquisition is "Morrigan's moment," they started the Inquisition press build up two years ago by posting her picture online during Halloween, and she introduced the E3 2013 trailer. Surely that counts for something?

With regards to Cullen/Morrigan/Leliana/possibly Scribbles as *temp* companions. I think they would act as *guest* characters, meaning they accompany sometimes, probably on huge story missions but are not controllable by the player and are played by an ai. That's my take on what they would become.
I'm sure that with respect to our character's origins we're gonna have some form of actual temporary party members before the fade blast that would inevitably kill them. roflmao if one of them is named Jenkins.
