So do we still have the option to spec our Party members however we want?

Until now I thought it was common knowledge that we'd be able to customize our companions however we want within the limits of their class, but now with all this talk about which specialization the party members are gonna be, I'm not so sure. I had thought for example that if I wanted to equip a two hander on Cassandra and customize her abilities to be more of a damage dealer, I could do that.

You can do that.

You can do that.

So I'm assuming that this talk of Party Specializations is just their default Spec? In other words instead of Artificer, I can make Varric into an assassin?

I'm sorry where? Weapon styles we know companions can use both of their class, specializations are apparently going to be officially discussed later on.

That part we don't know, but it may be that these specializations are fixed. In DA:O there was a second specialization each character had; we don't know if that will happen.

No. Making Varric, for example, a dual-wielder is possible. Making him an Assasin, we don't know, but it seems highly unlikely to me.

It would be kind of weird having Varric wield 2 daggers and still 'talk' to Bianca during fights :P
